Do you prefer books about angels or demons?
List any romance books that include one or both of these types of characters...

message 2: by Eastofoz (new)

Eastofoz I think I've only read Larissa Ione's Passion Unleashed that has both angels and demons together. I didn't really like the book though. In Kresley Cole's IAD the last two books are about demons: Dark Desires After Dusk (Cade is one sexy demon here!), Kiss of a Demon King

Also,
Angels' Blood-Nalini Singh-about an archangel
Covet A Novel of the Fallen Angels-J.R. Ward-Sept 29, 2009-about a fallen angel
Kissed by an Angel Collector's Edition Kissed by an Angel the Power of Love Soulmates

Another one I found, but have not read...

Dark Desires After Dusk-Kresley Cole-about a demon

new_user I love angel or demon stories!

My favorite angel stories thus far:
Angels' Blood
A Mermaid's Kiss (ignore the pink cover- this is not fluffy! Emotional and dark.)

My favorite demon story:
Pleasure Unbound (I didn't like the next two books as much)

There aren't that many good ones, imo.

Have you read any of the ones I listed? Were any of them good?

new_user Hm, let's see...

I decided not to read the Delacroix books because of the reviews and the fact that I've read her writing and it's underwhelming.

I've read Angel's Blood. That was good. I'm looking forward to the sequel. In that series, Singh writes with her usual romantic style, but the characters and plot are more edgy (see, toeing the line between bad and good). It was smart of her to take advantage of the cultural connotations/images we ascribe to angels and spin them. A bad angel is even more interesting. ;)

I'll probably read Covet, but not Dark Desires After Dusk. Kresley Cole gets a little too goofy for me, LOL.

BK Blue (paradoxically) I haven't read much if any about angels or demons, but knowing my tastes I'd prefer demons or at least "naughty" angels, lol.

I will have to check out these books you guys are listing. Thanks!

message 10: by new_user (new)

new_user The ones that I listed are bad angels if that helps, LOL. Huhuhuhu. *runs off to her sleazy hideaway*

I def. have to say that I think "fallen" angels are sexier than the fluffy white winged kind. LMAO!!!

Unapologetic_Bookaholic Why is evil so sexy!

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 17 comments Demon-themed trilogy which I enjoyed reading:

Jackie Kessler's Hell on Earth

Hell's Belles
The Road to Hell
Hotter Than Hell

I love Danuan...that is one "bad" demon. I love the byline for his book: A good demon is hard to find, but a bad one is hotter than hell!

And the Woode Brothers, from Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series, are just hot! Bring on the "lickable" horns...LOL!

I'm more of a "demon" girl than an "angel" one...LOL!

Going Bovine-Libba Bray
I haven't read it, but I saw it and figured...why not...

message 16: by new_user (last edited Aug 12, 2009 07:59PM) (new)

new_user That has angels in it? And here I thought it was about cows... LOL.

message 17: by Literary Lusts (new)

Literary Lusts (literarylusts) There's the Morgan Kingsley series by Jenna Black too. There's times where I've wanted to strangle the heroine for being stubborn to the point of being stupid... but really all in all it's been a good series so far. There is some m/m relationships and some BDSM involvement but if that doesn't scare you, I'd recommend them.

LOL It has a loopy punk angel...LOL I guess it's supposed to be a humorous book...

message 19: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne | 286 comments My favourite angels are:-

Jonah and David from Joey W Hills Mermaid Series
Lucien from Adrian Phoenix Makers Song series
and Nalini Singhs Angels Blood

message 20: by new_user (new)

new_user Ah, David... So dreamy, LOL. And Illium from Angel's Blood, I'd like to see his book. :D

LOL I just created a shelf for Angels and Demons! LOL So many suggestions that I figured it deserved its own shelf...

message 22: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne | 286 comments I had a shelf for them then got rid of it, but may re-instate....:)

NU have to admit Jonah is my fav..i think it was the scene in the storm, on the deck that did it for me:) I agree about Illium, he was introduced really well in Angels Blood, so it would be nice if his book would either be the next one or the one after....

message 23: by Tatu (last edited Aug 31, 2009 07:45AM) (new)

Tatu (tatu_black) sharon shinn has a series about angels, its a bit historical, light and sometimes funny... lots of action and lots of hunks with wings...

message 24: by new_user (new)

new_user I couldn't get into her angels series, but I did love her Twelve Houses series. :)

Has anyone read Covet by J.R. Ward?
I wanted to read it, but I'm having second thoughts...

message 26: by new_user (new)

new_user Why second thoughts, Joy? :)

message 27: by Cindi (new)

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) Yeah, why second thoughts?

I've enjoyed Richelle Mead's Georgia Kincaid series (succubus demons, a lone angel) and also Cheyenne McCrayForbidden Magicseries. The Magic series is pretty hot.

I've been getting mixed reviews on Covet. People either hate it or love it. Whenever, I hear that a book isn't as good as people expect, I have trouble getting myself to read it... :(

message 29: by new_user (new)

new_user To be honest, I've heard mostly good things about it. So I think it's safe, Joy. :)

Joy, Joy, Joy you shouldn't let other people's review effect what you choose to read that much. Just because some people don't like something has absolutely no bearing on how you will feel about it. 'Twilight' has had some horribly scathing reviews (and probably accurate), but that hasn't stopped millions of tweens, teens and women from devoring the books and loving them. You never know where some of the reviewers are coming from and it may just not be their type of book, but they read it anyways. If you really think it looks good read it ... it's not like a book like that will take you very long anyways :-P.

It's more difficult to get me to read books that people have given bad reviews to, because I have hundreds of books that I want to read. Somewhere in the back of my mind a little voice whispers that it would be smarter to read a book with good reviews. Although, so far I do really love J.R. Ward...maybe I'll still attempt covet...

Was it anything like the Black Dagger Brotherhood series?

message 32: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne | 286 comments I think it's unfair to compare ,read it with an open mind. I loved it! the relationshop between the H/H is sensuous and loving. I know it's difficult to read past a bad review but unless that bad review comes from a trustworthy *book buddy* whose taste is so like your own their book list could be yours, I'd be inclined to ignore, and go for the read of your life.

message 33: by new_user (new)

new_user They're probably pretty different, from what I've heard, but you might enjoy both. Why not? :)

That makes sense. I guess I just don't really take reviews too much to heart. The Time Traveler's Wife received so many amazing reviews and I thought the book lacked a lot of substance and I had trouble getting involved with the characters at all. I probably would have been less disappointed if I didn't know the reviews. If you go by them too much you may end up reading a lot of books you think are crap because someone else thought that particular brand of crap was good before you get to something you'll actually enjoy.
