What are you working on? Are you writing a novel? Short stories? Essays?

Please give us a list of your Goodreads books, so people can add you! And if you want to, give a short synopsis or excerpt to go with it.

Here is a list of my published work:

Only Children Chase Sawdust (novel)
The Letter (Hills of Innocence Trilogy #2)
The Innocent (Hills of Innocence Trilogy #1)
Silly Feeling (short story)
Whispering Leaves Saga (series of short stories)
Here All the Time (novella - found only on my blog)

For the sake of time, I'll just give a synopsis for The Letter :

At first it was just a letter, maybe a joke, a coincidence. Now it was a living nightmare, threatening everyone he loved, pulling his greatest fear into a reality…

As the letters keep coming, Brock Sumner watches his world shatter at his feet. Building a wall around his heart seemed like the only answer. Is there any other way to protect the woman he loves?

A drunk, with no incentive to change; a runaway, with a price on his back; a young child, afraid in the dark…

Will the letters, perhaps, pull their lives together? Or will the killer find a way to destroy them all?

C.B. Cook (cbcook) | 26 comments I've published two books, Paralyzed Dreams and my most recent (published on the 4th of July!), Twinepathy. Here's the synopsis for Twinepathy:

Albany York has a secret.

Albany and her twin sister, Brooklyn, have spent years successfully hiding their telepathic connection. But when a girl falls unconscious at their doorstep, the girls learn that they might not be the only people in the world with extraordinary powers and that a memory thief is on the loose. As the twins try to help the girl find her memories, they discover that the superhero world might be bigger—and more dangerous—than they ever imagined.

The Rise of Aredor (book 1)
The Wildcat of Braeton (Book 2)

The Faeries of Mynius
Adela's Curse (Book 1)

I'm currently working on several things, but here's a rough synopsis of book 2 of the Faeries series.

Prince Killian has always known he was cursed. He can hear the wolves howling and knows they are calling to him.
When an encounter with a sorcerer activated the curse, Killian is turned into a wolf. It's up to him, his brother Lars, and a young woman named Rose to find the faeries in Myrnius for a way to undo the spell before the sorcerer finds them.

Carrie Johnson | 7 comments Last week, I published the third novel in my fantasy series The Glory Chronicles. It is entitled Escape to Glory.

I am also working on editing the fourth novel in the series entitled Search for Glory. Leisurely, I am writing the fifth novel in the series entitled Lost from Glory.

A new idea that I am working on is a collection of stories for Christmas and a separate collection of stories about the life of an elementary teacher.

My Goodread books are:
Journey to Glory (The Glory Chronicles Book 1) by Carrie Rachelle Johnson

Synopsis: The world has become a dark place in need of light. Evil runs rampant and people are in need of hope. On Mount Glory, the Ancient One waits to provide that hope to those who are willing to seek Him. By following the Bright Morning Star, some travelers embark on a journey that would change their lives forever. Yet the evil dragon Diablo has no intention of allowing anyone to accept the love of the Ancient One and join His service. The travelers must be swayed from their journey or if not, destroyed before they reached the mountain. What chance could these travelers have against such a heartless, cruel creature and the evil minions that serve him? What obstacles will they have to endure? Will any survive their journey to Glory?

Return to Glory by Carrie Rachelle Johnson

Synopsis: In Journey to Glory, four travelers followed the Bright Morning Star to Mount Glory where they joined the service of the Ancient One. Now a year later, the Beloved embark on another journey as they unite to escort a group of new travelers to the Ancient One. Yet this journey may prove to be harder than their first one as Diablo strikes relentlessly in vengeance using old and new threats to stop the humans. Will the travelers choose to put their trust in the Ancient One? Will the minions of evil keep them from their destination? Will any of the Beloved be able to Return to Glory?

Escape to Glory by Carrie Rachelle Johnson

Synopsis: In Return to Glory, Diablo vowed that he would have his vengeance against the Ancient One. Now the evil dragon strikes viciously against all of the Beloved. Through magic and deception, evil seeks to rid the world of good. The future appears hopeless for mankind. Yet hope remains for the Beloved who follow the Bright Morning Star. The journey will be unpredictable and full of danger. Allegiances will be tested. Hearts will be broken. Lives will be lost. Will Diablo finally have his victory? What forces of evil will attack? Will any Beloved be able to Escape to Glory?

I am at the very beginning of my journey and just completed my first book: The God Who Sees Me - Single Moms of the Bible and Their Lessons for Today. The title says it all. It's a piece that gives the reader encouragement, hope and confidence to live victoriously in Christ with the knowledge that God has a plan for every contingency. If anyone is interested in shaping reviews I am beyond willing and would be happy to send you a free electronic copy.
Again continued success and I look forward to reading your works.

Bethany Willcock (bethanywillcock) I'm currently working on a lady-detective series; so far I've written three books and two short stories, and I'm busy writing the fourth book in the series. I'm also working on a historical Christian novel which may take some time! I hope to get my books published in two or so years' time. Caitlyn Santi | 6 comments I have three published works

My first published work True Equitation: A Short Story is a medieval short story revolving around my fictional idea of the first horseback dressage competition.

My first published novella Surrender Falls: A Novella is a Christian romantic suspense with a bit of a fairy tale type feel to it!

And my new novella Deadly Obsession: A Novella just released! It's a Christian suspense about a teenage girl who is an FBI agent. No romance in this one but I think fans of Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey would enjoy it!

message 32: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Willcock (bethanywillcock) I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I was wondering if we could start up a thread for writers who have written books but haven't published them yet; and who are looking for people willing to revise and proofread their books for them, make suggestions, point out areas that could be improved, changed, etc.? I know it's somewhat different, because obviously since the book isn't published yet the people proofreading it can't write a review on Goodreads for the book, but perhaps it could be helpful anyway? Especially to writers that are just starting out, and maybe haven't published a book yet.
Just a thought :)

message 33: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Brazytis | 18 comments You know, I was thinking the same thing! 'Beta Readers', I think they call them. They don't necessarily proofread or change anything - not all of the time - but they sort of give you a first opinion and can provide those great back cover 'pre-reviews'! I don't really have a lot of people who can do that for me outside of my immediate family circle.

E.F. Buckles | 3 comments I guess if I'm going to be a member of this group, it's about time I poked my head in and said something. ;)

I'm not published yet, but I've been writing since early 2014. My first story, and the one I focus upon with the most intensity, is planned to be a full-length novel, hopefully the first book in a duology. It's a portal fantasy where a young woman has dreams about another world and then is transported there. She must figure out how and why she was transported if she ever wants to get back home. In the process, she not only learns the truth behind the mysterious circumstances of her father's death, but also finds love, friendship, and support where she never expected it to be. The working title is "In Dreams They Came". It is very much a work in progress, but I'm working on it as hard as I know how. I don't know yet if it will qualify as Christian Fiction, but anything I write will be clean whether there are specifically Christian themes in it or not.

I also have a couple, shorter, fairy-tale retelling ideas that I work on when I get stuck on "In Dreams They Came". One is a Sleeping Beauty/Romeo and Juliet retelling, and the other is a Snow White retelling. No working titles yet.

I love them all. :)

message 42: by ANDREA (new)

ANDREA ANSELM (andieaa) | 5 comments This is a section of my writing. Andrea

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”
John 14:15
When Jesus calls us to keep his commandments, he challenges us operate with love and reverence for the Almighty. In order to obey the commands of Jesus, we must comprehend the distinction between a mere command and a commandment.
As soon as one is commanded to do an action, it is an authoritative order from a place of power. With a commandment, the Lord our God issues vital precedents to comport oneself.
In the book of Exodus, God orders Moses to approach Pharoh to free the Israelites who were in slavery for four hundred years.
“ GOD told Moses, “Look at me. I’ll make you as a god to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet. You are to speak everything I command you, and your brother Aaron will tell it to Pharaoh. Then he will release the Israelites from his land. At the same time I am going to put Pharaoh’s back up and follow it up by filling Egypt with signs and wonders. Pharaoh is not going to listen to you, but I will have my way against Egypt and bring out my soldiers, my people the Israelites, from Egypt by mighty acts of judgment. The Egyptians will realize that I am GOD when I step in and take the Israelites out of their country.”
Moses and Aaron did exactly what GOD commanded. Moses was eighty and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.”
Exodus

Like Moses and Aaron, we will often hear directives from the God in regards to aspects of our lives; he may instruct us to do things that may seem impossible, but what we do and how we decide to respond to the commands of the Most High the will determine the outcome of our lives.
God does not only enforce tasks we should accomplish the Heavenly Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven, but He also establish laws to governor our lifestyles. In observing these laws we are known to be a chosen people. Children after God’s own heart. These Laws we call commandments.
The term "commandment" within the Bible (mainly Heb. Miswa; Gk. Entole) refers to orders or adjurations given by divine authority; in one case some of these laws were given to Moses. Some of these Laws are known as the Ten Commandments.
1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
2. You shall not make idols.
3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
5. Honor your father and your mother.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10. You shall not covet.
Many believers have the misconception that the only laws given by Jehovah are ten commandments those listed above. Contrary to the fact Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the son of the almighty himself left many commands for his disciples to abide by. Two of the Greatest of these are:
1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
2. Love your neighbor as yourself.
You may be asking who is Jesus of Nazareth and with what authority he demanded that the apostles and disciples uphold his commands. Or are his commands even known as commandments.
The Bible states Jesus Christ draws his power from our Heavenly Fathers to manifest the awesome power of the Almighty God.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created.
Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men.
That light shines in the darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it.
John 1: 1-5
These first verses of John’s gospel declare quite a lot about Jesus. It is a majestic introduction of the Son of God and the Savior of the world.
The Word here means Jesus. Jesus has always existed. He existed before he was born to Mary (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38 & 2:1-7). From theses verses we know that Jesus was in the beginning with God before he lived on the earth.

Jesus was with God the Father, even when God laid the foundations of this world, thus Jesus himself is God the Son. But there are not two Gods. There is only one God “Listen, Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is One.” Deuteronomy 6:4.

This might seem difficult to understand. But Jesus himself said, ‘The Father and I are one’ John 10:30.

MY WARNING:
(view spoiler)

MY WRITING:
Do you always wonder where the secret heroes come from? Were they once the Run-A-Way Gang(my own Gang name for the story)? Nobody knows for sure, but villains were always attempting to know where the heroes come from. The villains always try to spy on the heroes, but ending up failing.

(It's all clean. No over PG13 contents.)

Where did the Heroes come from and where did the Villains come from?
There's a few worlds. One is for the Heroes and the other one is for the Villains.
Legends say that the Villains once tortured the world of Heroes.
But the history has forgotten about it.

(Inspired by: movies, songs, stories, and places. My mind works differently.)

(view spoiler)

(Though, I finished it, I'm still editing it to make it sound better abd I'm adding myself into the story. Hopefully in series.)
