An awesome book if you can get past the lack of quotation marks.

I have read a few authors who write their dialogue without punctuation, including McCarthy. It ends up being a distraction and a bit confusing to me sometimes. Luckily, McCarthy's stories don't usually have a ton of dialogue.
I have never read a McCarthy book, so I would not know. This book has a lot of dialogue and it all runs together.
The lack of punctuation in this book I thought was fully intentional and added to the brilliance. The sense of claustrophobia, loss of identity, and the breakdown of society were enhanced by this technique. It can be difficult to read, but I found it made the telling more urgent and believable. Of course I felt the same way about this same technique in McCarthy's The Road
