I'm 2/3 of the way through and I'm so tired of Ivy's crap. I enjoy the stories and all of the other characters but the constant "poor Ivy loves Rachel but cannot have her" is getting so old and ruining an otherwise great series. Argh!

It's book #5! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! Move on.

That part of the story wore out its welcome with me too. If memory serves though, the next book will be...significant.

I've finished and I had my usual issues with it. The Rachel/Ivy drama makes me want to quit reading but the rest of the story and the action is good enough for me to want to find out what happens next.

The ending was excellent with some really fantastic twists and surprises.

Good to know, Lauren, as I'm a bit bored right now.

It's a long series and it has a middle slump IMO but I think the series catches a second wind starting with book 8. That is still one of my favorite books in the series.

But yes, the Ivy drama did drag things down in the early books. I recall several complaints of the "beating a dead horse" and the "s*&% or get off the pot" variety back in the days, in other words, do something with this or end it.

To refresh my memory, what is the status of Rachel and Kisten in this book?

They are in a relationship and, right now, it's good.

This is the book in which Kisten (view spoiler)[is murdered. Piscary gives his last blood to some unknown vampire and he is later killed twice on his boat. Rachel was there but cannot remember the details of what happened because she has been spelled to forget (hide spoiler)]

Yes, that's exactly the thing I wasn't sure had happened yet. It's directly related to Rachel's big wake up call, though I don't think that happens until the next book. At any rate, the Ivy drama does not continue at the same intensity for the duration of the series.
