Okay, good start since I love England' Royalty.....
Week One
Roll One: 4
Alternative: setting England
Book: The Wild Princess: A Novel of Queen Victoria's Defiant Daughter by Mary Hart Perry
NO: of pages - 414
Read: 07/14/16
Rating: 4 stars
Princess Louise was Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's 6th child. Because Louise was born at a time when numerous revolutions were taking place in Europe, Queen Victoria believed Louise would be "different." And this proved very true.
Of all Victoria's children, Louise was the most unconventional, hence The Wild Princess. She wanted to be normal and did not flaunt her noble status. This made relations with her and her mother strained. Queen Victoria tried to control her, and she fought back.
When reading historical fiction, fiction is weaved with fact. In the case of this novel, the author followed Louise's life closely, However, readers will find that most of the story line is remarkably accurate and true to the times.

Review:
This was the last book in the series I started long ago but never finished. It was exactly what I've come to expect from the author, a quick and enjoyable read. It was something different than my usual reads but still close enough for me to enjoy it.
Theo,
I am enjoying your leadership. Truly!!!
Nay, that book sounds like a movie, huh? I love that period in film.
Gea, I enjoyed that Hitman series a lot. I didn't love the author's Billionaire series but it is probably because I despise that whole Billionaire and pauper secretary trope.

The book would make a great movie, I love time period movies. The book is actually the first of three but can also be a stand alone.

Week 1, Thursday RollSpot: 4
Read: Grey by E.L. James
Qualification: #4 in Fifty Shades series
Finished: 7/16/16
Rating: 2 stars
Review: A retelling of Fifty Shades of Grey from Christian's perspective. It mostly felt redundant, and to be honest, one of the most appealing things about him from the original trilogy is that he's enigmatic. Seeing his inner thoughts makes him seem a little ridiculous. If you enjoyed the first three books, you may find it interesting to see what was happening when Ana wasn't around, but this felt like a fanfiction (of fanfiction, no less).

I love Jill Shalvis' small-town romances. Griffin and Kate are a cute couple and it was fun to watch them fall for each other. I really enjoyed the humor in this one, especially Kate's random science facts. I will continue with the series and look forward to the next book.
Awesome, team! We're ready for our next roll. I look forward to hearing what everyone will be reading next.
I rolled a 6! That puts us on spot 10.You can read a stand-alone, #1, or #10 in a series. The alternate is a book with a purple cover.

Review
Oh My....I like this series!
Parts of the story is told from the viewpoint of the villains and the where chilling. I liked all the connections that were revealed between Tori's friend and the cult that was responsible for the various murders. The relationship between Tori and Seth was very realistic and nice. The twists and turns kept me devouring the pages. I highly recommend this series.

Review:
I've read a couple of author's books before and while they were good I never really looked into more of her books. This one was quite good but it was way too long for my tastes and it dragged a bit because of that. While I would love to read more about the MC the next book will be about Axel and Bayden again so I'll skip it as I really don't need more of their story.
Week 1, Sunday RollSpot: 10
Read: Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
Qualification: #1 in Code Name Verity series
Finished: 7/19/16
Rating: 5 stars
Review: An impeccably researched piece of historical fiction, Code Name Verity was beautiful and captivating. Shedding light on the important role young women played in World War II as civilian pilots and spies, the novel focuses on the friendship of two very different girls as they negotiate life in Britain during the Nazi occupation of France. It's part spy thriller, part war saga, and it's even got a dash of chick lit! I highly recommend it.
Also the author uses a great knitting metaphor, and as a knitter, I'm always excited to see it mentioned in novels: "I didn't lie to him. The story I gave him isn't like a pullover full of holes, dropped stitches that will easily unravel when you start to poke them. More like--slip one, knit one, pass slipped stitch over."
Hope your reading is going well, Amanda! Don't forget that our next roll can come as early as midnight tonight (if we've gotten all reviews in).
Spot 10
Date Read: 7/20/16
Rating: ★★★½
I enjoyed this introduction to the Experiment in Terror series. Perry is not a typical heroine but I really like her and I started to warm up to Dex by the end of the book. They make a pretty good team. The lighthouse investigation was creepy but it will be interesting to see what happens with the show. I look forward to finding out what their next adventure holds in Texas.
Sorry, guys! I rolled a 1.This puts us on spot 11.
You can read a #1 or #11 in a series or read a book from this shelf: 2001

Week Two
Roll One: 1
Spot: 11
Alternative: standalone
Book: The Men Who Would Be King: Suitors to Queen Elizabeth I by Josephine Ross
NO: of pages - 224
Read: 07/22/16
Rate: 3 stars
The story of the many suitors of Elizabeth I—one of the most eligible brides in 16th century Europe. This was a very quick readable non-fiction of Elizabeth I's many marriage negotiation. I liked the authors writing and her clear reasons why some of these men were King worthy and others were not. The reason I went from 4 stars to 3 is there were a couple of chapters that were just too long winded for my liking, it felt like she was just going on for filler reasons.
