The good thing is, they're easy reads. The bad thing? No one goes anywhere. Maggie continues down the same routes with the same personal and professional issues that aren't even interesting. I'm also tired of endings where the bad guys seem to prevail or not get caught.
I really need the series to mature in some aspect. It just feels like the same story over and over with venue changes and variations of circumstances.

I agree. The characters don't seem to grow at all. Maggie's personal life is going nowhere fast. I was rooting for Tully and Gwen, but I haven't seen anything so far. I do not like mysteries that are left open-ended and the bad guy gets away. That makes me mad. I want a solid ending.
To be honest, I haven't read any of these books for a while. The last one I read was
. They pretty much continue in the same vein with most of the focus on the cases and not much on character development. As I'm more of a plot than a character driven reader, I like them overall despite my issues with some of the elements. I've only got 2 left and then I'm done with the series so I will try and finish it with you all if you last that long :0)
Thanks for that feedback, Lauren. I'm going to try and hang in there and hope the storytelling skills are enough.
There are better books on my TBR pile, and I am very ambivalent about continuing, since even the cases aren't closed.
I am carrying on I guess as long as I can get each one from the library. I am not prepared to pay for them:)
