I just finished The 5th Wave, which has been on my to-read shelf for a while, but I didn't think about the contest starting in Aug. Whoops! Oh well, good to start the clean up early. Maybe I'll get that list whipped into shape! So, here're the five I'm officially putting down for my goal:

1. The Hobbit, J. R. R. Tolkien
2. Crown of Midnight, Sarah J. Maas
3. The Maze Runner, James Dashner
4. Insurgent, Veronica Roth
5. Dearest, Alethea Kontis

And a few extra, just in case:
Stolen Magic, Gail Carson Levine
Storm Siren, Mary Weber

Great! That's really nice that your Opa read it to you. I wanted to read it because of the movie. Have you watched the movie?

Coralie (corkybookworm) | 386 comments Mod
Yeah, I've seen all three of them. It was definitely special. He'd read to me and my brother almost every night. He made the story come alive! Sometimes it was even interactive. Ha ha ha!

Wow. That's so neat! The movies are awesome! Who's your favorite character?

I just saw this...whoops! I think of the Hobbit movies, my favorite character was...either Kili or Tauriel. For LOTR, definitely Sam. What about you?

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 2222 comments Mod
For sure Tauriel and Legolas and not just because of the romance in there. In LOTRs. . . that's a hard one cause I like so many characters. I think Arwen, Lady Galadriel, Aragorn, Gandalf, and Elrond were my favorites.

There was certainly a great cast of characters in both. I do really like Aragorn and Arwen a LOT, but like you said, not just because of the romance. I enjoyed both of their characters individually as well as together.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 2222 comments Mod
Exactly! They were both awesome in the movies. Though it's a bit odd that the director added in the romance even though it wasn't there in the movie. The same with Legolas and Tauriel. Even though Tauriel wasn't and actually character in the book, it was still great to see her in the movie!
The Hobbit definitely had some great characters and I enjoyed every one of them.

I guess he thought the story needed a little romance subplot since it isn't all that important and it always keeps readers happy. Interesting!

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 2222 comments Mod
It really is. At least there wasn't all that much romance in there not like other movies which I gladly appreciate (the little romance). I do wonder what would have happened if Kili wasn't killed though. It would be really neat if the director did a movie solely about Tauriel and what she did after the last Hobbit movie. That would be awesome and I would be right at the movie theater right away. : )

I was SO mad about losing Kili!!!!! (I cannot truly defend my stance, however, because I don't remember if he died in the book or not...) That would be neat! Like a spin-off. Yeah, especially since she wasn't in LOTR.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 2222 comments Mod
Kili did die in the book as well. : ( I'm crossing my fingers and hoping they make a movie with Tauriel. I just hope they pick Peter Jackson (I think that's his name) as the director. I don't think any other directors would do the job and get it done well and efficient.

Oh, yes, if they ever go with a movie for her, they must have the original director! Darn! Well...I'm still not happy about him dying! :-) I just loved his character so much!

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 2222 comments Mod
Yup. Same's with me.
I loved that Kili had a twin too. They were just so funny in certain scenes.

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ | 2222 comments Mod
So far, I've read "Wolf Wilder" by Katherine Rundell and I loved reading every little bit of the story. It was wonderfully written and I'm hoping that the author could write a sequel soon.
I'm also reading the book about Bloody Mary and how she rose to power and such. It's terrific so far.
