Q1 - Have you read any of Blume's YA books and how would you say they compared to ITUE?

I read a lot of them multiple times! Have never been to New Jersey, but once ITUE flipped back to '50s NJ I was reading thinking, 'Oh, here I am again.' It was such a familiar world to me. Blume has drawn on the town she grew up in so much in her fiction that I could practically smell the perfect burgers at the Three Brothers restaurant. There's a line in one of Miri's sections where she wishes she could go back to being a little kid again because everything is too complicated and I think that is the essence of JB's storytelling, if you wanted to distill it into one line. That bewildering feeling of being not quite an adult, but no longer a child.
One of the main differences here is that we get more of an insight into the adults in the story. I remember the 'teen' stories being more focussed on the younger people and adults are incomprehensible... although maybe I'm due a reread!
Yes that is exactly the essence of her writing, I totally agree! I really want to re-read her YA books again after reading this.
