Earth, book one Elemental Series by Shauna Granger.
This was one of the first books I have read about witches. I've tried it out in the past, but it has never been done well. I ended up giving this book and many others in the series 5 stars for a few reasons:
1.Characters
The characters are well put together and the girls were tough and held their own. I have this series in my "no damsels in distress" folder. I despise damsels in distress books.
2.Details
They weren't just a bunch of teenagers who wanted to try out witchcraft. They were born with the ability to manipulate elements. They book went into detail on their abilities, and they honestly seemed very realistic. Much more so than other magical books I have read.
3.Flow
The book flowed nicely, with lots of high points that kept you reading and wanting more. But it wasn't so much drama that it was unrealistic. They are high schoolers after all.
4.Writing
The key to this book was the writing. The series is actually self-published. Which was surprising once I discovered that fact, after reading it. I never would have guessed.
I recommend this book if you like: Magic, elemental magic, romance, young characters, drama.
