description description descriptionThe Marked ; werewolf encyclopedia | declaimer: this is the real greek folklore about werewolves with my own twist.

According to Greek myth, some citizens believed they owed their lives more to Prometheus rather than to the gods of Olympus. Some followers even took names to honor the titans instead of the gods like Deucalion who is named after the son of Prometheus.

Lycaon didn’t just refuse to honor the gods, he challenged them. He invited Zeus to a banquet where he tried to serve him the flesh of a human being. Angered, Zeus blew the place apart with his lightning bolts and then punished Lycaon and his sons by turning them into wolves.

The gods sought out a powerful Witch named Perimede to help them change back. Zeus’ powers were too great, so she bound them to the moon so they would appear human. However, during a full moon, they endure a painful transformation into a complete wolf, becoming more animal than human without a choice.

Werewolves, or also known as Lycanthropes are either born or bitten, but you can only get turned by an alpha’s bite. The werewolves that are born with the gene have more control over their power. A transformation can either be triggered by pain or anger. Those with an untriggered gene will continue to show aggression and be affected by the full moon.

Werewolves that are under the age of eighteen years old, have not yet triggered the gene of full wolf transformation, due to their bodies still maturing. Instead their faces morphs into a human/wolf state with claws for fingernails and fangs for teeth. Although they are not full wolf, they do have the same abilities a werewolf has. The thing that differs between full transformation and half transformation is that its easier to kill a young blood. The healing process is not as effective, and sometimes it doesn't always work. Young bloods usually fall under the delta rank. When a werewolf reaches the age of eighteen their bodies go into a comatose like death, so that the wolf side of them can evolve into a full wolf transformation.

Such as, if they get a scratch or a cut ; the body will automatically trigger the healing process. Alpha’s can infect others by a bite. Wolves of the same pack also have the ability to communicate with each other through their minds. Telepathy. superhuman reflexes: werewolves have faster reflexes that allow them catch fast moving objects in mid-air, such as arrows or even a basketball. their reflexes are 15 times faster than a normal human. canine control: can calm down other canine animals, like dogs, and also, make them attack on command. pain absorption: by touch, a werewolf can absorb the pain of a human or animal. This can also have a negative affect,if you take away all the pain it will result in death.

Werewolves’ weaknesses include ; being forced to change by the full moon or pain and anger, wolfsbane also known as aconitum, silver, mountain ash, decapitation and mistletoe. the lunar eclipse: during the lunar eclipse, werewolves lose all of their powers. piercing scream or screams: because of their heightened senses, high pitched scream or pricing sound, if loud enough, can hurt a werewolf. camera flash: a flash from a camera can make a werewolves eyes glow in the picture, causing exposure.

× alpha // The leader of the pack - and there only tends to be one alpha per pack, how strong the alpha is, is determined on how many pack members he or she has. an alpha can be removed from their position by being killed and having the wolf that killed the alpha take it’s place. he or she is the main one in control and sets the laws of his or she’s pack. or there can be a true alpha. a true Alpha is a someone who rises to alpha status solely on the strength and purity of character and sheer force of will. true alphas are rare.
× beta // the second ranking wolf - there can be one to ten beta’s in a pack, depending on the alpha and how much he or she changes. betas are the anchor of the pack. They make the pack strong, a whole.
× delta // third ranking wolf - the deltas are the pack members that are being trained by the alpha and betas. deltas are normally newly turned werewolves, so their control of the wolf has not yet sinked in.
× sentinels // ensure pack safety - although the pack works together as a whole, it’s always nice to have one or two wolves within the pack that stand by the alpha and make sure he or she is safe, along with other pack mates. considering part of their job is to protect the alpha the sentinels must be exceptionally strong and in complete control of the wolf.
× omega // the lowest rank - an omega is a werewolf who is either in a pack and not respected by the alpha, or a lone werewolf with no pack.

× the lux pack // the lux pack had started in norway around the 15th century by two brothers that wanted their kind to be safe and have rules. the norse god of daytime, dagr, had gifted them with marks and powers to help them throughout their futures for the brothers seemed to be the light at the end of the tunnel. their pack had always been small and undetected by the mortals until 1621 during the vardø witch trials. they had lost many of the pack they did have and moved up the domen mountain. during their time living on the domen their records were small only recording births, death, and when a new alpha came into power. after nine new alphas came to power arvid klöcker had decided that it was time to move to a different place. He had heard of america through hunters that got close to the pack territory. with a major event like this everything was recorded that dealt with this move. their was a vote on the move which over half the pack voted to move. that being settled arvid moved the pack down the mountain which got some looks and then after enough money made for pack to get a place on the boat they headed to america. their arrival to america was the last big piece of record as everything else was a jumbled mess until the beginning of the 20th century. the records had many death records recorded at the same time. eventually it came to light that in new york city there had been a gang or mob started by the pack and rivals had killed several. during the mid 1920s moved westward as they lost more numbers than they had during the witch trials. - description created by dreamchild

× the solis pack // the solis pack is, in a way, an ancient pack. Since the 1600's their descendants have roamed what is now known as the east coast. they had settlements long before the pilgrims ever arrived and those native Americans in Plymouth Rock, just happened to be the founding family of the solis pack. Under the name of buchanan. Firm believers in the Egyptian sun god ra, the pack spent their days worshipping the god. They believed he was the one who fed them their power and bathed them in their light. Any member who failed to abide by the packs rules would be set ablaze on a Piar as a sacrifice to ra. The pack had numbers, with only 1 alpha to answer to. James Buchanan-Solis, the alpha during the 1700', officially named the pack Solis after his daughters death a year earlier. The same family has run the pack since its beginning in 1678. Times have always been pretty easy for the solis pack, up until the 1830's when a cholera pandemic swept the nation and killed half of the pack. Not long after the pandemic ended, the pack rose once more in numbers until it was larger than ever before. The pack moved to Chicago in the 1920's, taking up residence in the west side, and created a reputation as a mafia. They have since moved on, moving across the globe, chasing after the sun. - description created by queen

× the luna pack // The Luna pack was founded by Lycius, son of Lycaon, who had the mark bestowed upon him by the goddess Artemis. He, along with a small faction of his brothers, formed a pack, and named it Luna in honour of the goddess' mark, which was then bestowed on the others. This pack was governed by two laws - the alpha's word is law, and if you kill the alpha then you make the laws. As the pack remained small, it was easier for them to hide and escape the various prejudices of each era. During the Middle Ages, when witch hunts and werewolf trials were regular occurrences, the pack lost several members, before retreating into the remote mountain ranges of Europe.Much of the pack's history was lost in a fire, when a large chunk of their history books were turned to ash. As a result, the pack's history after the Middle Ages becomes confused and consists of mainly guesswork.

× the noctis pack // It is said that Hekate, in her triple aspect of Selene, Artemis, and Persephone, bestowed the mark of the Night on half of Nyx to the son of Lycaon, Cleitor. Cleitor, along with his older brother, Titanas, went on to found the Noctis pack, named after the goddess of the night who gave them her power over the shadows. The pack, in its earliest years, was very much like a matriarchy, as the bloodline of Titanas and Cleitor were the Alphas, whichever lineage held the oldest male got the title of Alpha, with the other being their beta and second-in-command. The pack faced extinction during the werewolf witch trials of France in the 17th century. Only a handful had survived, and the pack as been struggling to regain their lost numbers ever since. - description created by wulfie
