~Prompt #2~

Write about three things that always make you feel better.

* forgive me, I am listening to tango music currently and this feels oddly sinful and sensual to me... I swear there is nothing rated R!

1. She listens carefully for the garage door to completely close before sprinting over to the front window as she watched the white SUV leave the premises.

A moment of silence.

A sigh of relief. Ah, alone at last.

She all but skips over to the kitchen, allowing herself a twirl as she does so, happily recalling the parent's weekend plans to leave her at home while they went adventuring. Skillfully, she glides across the hardwood floors in her socks. She hasn't a care in the world that it is already noon and she is in her pajamas. On the contrary, it only adds to the sensational sinning she was partaking in.

The pantry door flies open. The time has finally come. She had been eyeing the cake mix box all week, patiently biding her time until the moment was right.

She whisked the lonely mix away from it's shelf, quickly preparing it's contents, though neglecting to include the suggested egg addition.

The television hummed in the distance, her current show of choice playing in the background. She snatched a spoon from the kitchen drawer and headed over to the couch, but sunk to sit on the floor instead. At last, she could indulge in the heavenly cake batter as she watched netflix. Utter. Bliss.

2. Crunch!
The soft, yet completely satisfying sound brought her senses about her. Ah yes, it was autumn and the leaves were dry and falling. It would be a good day.

3. Mmmm.....

How much time had passed?

She didn't know.

She didn't care.

She was in a trance, unable to fall asleep for fear of missing this bliss. Gifted hands and bony somethings spoiled her back with pressure. The calming instrumentals and aromatherapies in the background had her breathing with ease. What was the therapist's name again? She would surely need to return to them again.

~Prompt #3~

Write a paragraph about a new type of animal that has been found by scientists studying the rain forest in Indonesia. How did they find it? What does it look like? Include details about its diet, any sounds it makes, what color it is, its den or nest or pond. What is its texture? Furry? Slimy? Feathered? And its personality? End the paragraph with a description of its eyes.

The Creeper Cat

Their obsidian fur had made the species elusive for years. It was so dark, shadows made the small creature nearly invisible in it's rainforest habitat. It could be likened to a mix between a cat and a bat. The ears were large and round and the muzzle was shortened and puppy-like but it was a quadruped with a tail as long as a capuchin monkey's. It's face had a slightly pink tinted black nose and four pearly black eyes, two on the front and two on either side of the head.

Scientists hadn't intended to make the discovery, but only happened upon the creature after accidentally knocking over the sugar water they had brought along to attract rare butterflies. The water did not attract the creeper cat, rather, the butterflies that swarmed did. The cat devoured it's meal happily as they arrived. It was skittish when the researchers arrived again, running up into the safety of the hollowed tree trunk, apparently it's preferred place of residence. Unfortunately, one of the scientists was scratched when trying to collect the unidentified creature and soon after began having hallucinations of four, bright pink eyes paralyzing his body like a Medusa. He was taken to the hospital and has yet to recover from the experience.

Prompt #5 Response - Jessica from Medicine

Hey there, Hun. You doing alright? Glad to hear it. Oh, did you hear about Chafeman? You know, the Biology Professor from Freshman year. I guess he got caught with one of his students the other day. I told you he played favorites, the arrogant dick. I swear when we had exams, whenever I wore a bit of a lowcut top, I scored well. Or at least got some bullshit extra credit. Having pervy professors has its perks. Do you think I could have gotten an A too if I slept with him? I bet you I could have. I've never tried it before, but I'm curious. Hey, don't give me that look! It's not like everyone was bred to be so morally traditional. My parents? Why do you want to hear about them? Fine, but promise not to get all 'oh-the-poor-dear' on me. Well I'm from Canada, yeah? Just outside Ontario in some little godforsaken town. Snoozeville. Anyways, Mom and Dad settled there after mom got pregnant with me. She's French. He's American-Canadian. She moved over to Canada when she was really young, but her parents are full on berets and baguettes kind of folk. You know. Grandma still has her super high croissant standards. Never could seem to take more than one bite of anything that was less than spectacular. Where was I going with this again? Right. Mom and Dad. So Mom and Dad were one of those sickly sweet high school sweethearts from a little town, wanted to settle down and have ten kids. Ok, maybe not ten, but they had me and my younger brother and I think they probably would have had more before Dad was kicked out. It's kind of hard to remember exactly why. It was a while ago and I was still in high school (Dahlia and Tomas were still in elementary school), but I think it was something about his job taking him away so often, never being around, blah blah blah. Mom was struggling with all the kids in the house and missing him. Long distance relationships are hard. Infidelity? Who knows. They loved each other a lot so I really couldn't see it happening. If you ask me, that's a gaping issue with monogamy. People get this idea in their head that one person for everything is the way to go. They have to be the one you have a family with, your best friend, your therapist, your partner in crime, your partner in bed, the only one you can dance with for the rest of your life. Doesn't that just seem ridiculous? One person can't be all that. I mean I guess some people are predisposed to just stick with one person through all the growing old crap. Me, I can't see myself settling down like that. So boring. I'd rather just keep doing what I'm doing. I'm being young and reckless because I'm young and I should be able to enjoy life's little adventures while I can. It's not a complicated lifestyle, thank you very much.

~Prompt #14~

Tap, tap, tap.

Sigh.

The blank document sitting on her computer had many things it could turn into like a twisted tale of the main character becoming the villain or a short poem about secrets in the winds. But right now it was blank and Gretchen had no idea which words to use. Her brain was tired just trying to think about what she should say. She'd type a sentence only to delete it.

There's a GRE text book next to her computer. Supposedly that was why she had come to the library in the first place, not because she was in the mood to write and liked the silence she found at the private study cubicles in the library. And yet...

Tap, tap, tap.

Her finger was restless against the wooden counter. Maybe she'd be inspired by a youtube video or some fanfictions?

She'd never be as good at sbj or create anything as heart rendering as Dirty Laundry. Yet, she always came back to the words.

Just put it out there.
Just write something.
Just let the words flow.

But she wanted it to be good. She wanted to be on the same level as sbj and have followers oohing and ahing over her version of Dirty Laundry. She wanted the fanarts and the fan letters. In addition to the writing.

Tap, tap, tap.

Ding!

*the gre
darn autocorrect >.<

"hehe!" Gretchen chuckled to herself, thinking about all the times autocorrect had definitely not corrected messaged correctly. Like the time she had asked her mom what flowers she should wear to prom and the word had not been prom.

Hm... that would be a funny story to write. A tiny drabble about how autocorrect is a nuissance, but can lead to fun memories, maybe even friendships? That would be nice.

It could start off like...

clack-clack-clack-click-tap-clack...

~Prompt #13~

Invent a character and throw him or her a birthday party. Write about it. You can also use a memory of a past birthday party you had or describe your ideal birthday party. Describe the presents and your reactions to them. (Or your character’s). Make a wish!

"Avi! Avi! You come sit here next to me. Barren you can sit on the other side, Luke you should sit on... this side... Hm maybe [funny precious child whose name is escaping me but had a crush on Lexi] could sit on the table?" Little Ali bobbed and bothered, trying to reason a way for all her precious people to sit next to her.

"Ali, I hate to break it to you, but I think everyone would be much more comfortable in their own seat." I say, picking up the small bean and placing her in her assigned seat (I had assigned it earlier, knowing allowing the birthday girl to choose could result in problems).

Luke was in the kitchen with Lexi, putting the finishing touches on dinner. Avi and Barren were humoring the exuberant birthday girl and allowing her to drag them around the room to look at the pictures she had taken with her classmates and the disposable camera Luke had gifted her for the day.

"If we sat in a circle on the floor, with her in the middle, wouldn't that work?" Avery offered, but I shook my head.

"Then she would be constantly fidgeting and turning around and never get to enjoy the food. And Ali is really looking forward to the meal that Lexi and Luke have been slaving over all day. Right, Ali?"

"Mhm! I'm so so soooo happy to see everyone today. I wish everyday was my birthday! And we could all live together in the cabin like a happy family and go on super secret missions together and-and-and!" The sweet bunny was nearly hyperventilating over how excited she was at the thought.

"Dinner is ready!" Luke chimed as he and the shorter, blonde woman exited the kitchen carrying multiple plates of food for the feast.

~Prompt #19~

Write a scene about two people on a hike. They come to a place where they disagree about which direction to take. What’s at stake? Do they stay together or go their separate ways? What happens next?

Wade and Cecily

She wanted to go left and he wanted to go right.
"The moss grows on the side facing the river so if we find the river, we can find our way back to town."

"Except there is no science to support that and I clearly remember that civilization is in the other direction."

"Can't you trust me? We're tired, hungry, and I know you're not sleeping well. I hiked a lot with my dad when I was younger and this is the way we need to go to get back faster."

"Trust you? That's rich."

Wade sighed at her words. She was right. He hadn't been a faithful husband, but he sure as hell wasn't going to be the one to try and get them lost in the middle of the woods.

"That part has nothing to do with my wilderness skills." He persevered, biting back the urge to yell.

Cecily gave him that annoyed "I don't give a rat's ass" sort of look. "Then go, wilderness man. I won't stop you."

"Cecily, you're the only thing stopping me. I'm not leaving you to fend for yourself."

"I can fend for myself just fine. You worry about yourself."

"That's not how marriage works."

"You call this a marriage?!" She let an exasperated laugh escape her. "We only got married for one reason and once she-once she passed away, there has been no reason for us not to move on." She choked her way past the words to make her point.

"Oh, bullshit! Don't talk to me like that. I was there. I was committed. I was ready to make it work and you just shut me out. I was having a hard time too, Cecily! I was so damn lonely."

"What do you know? You didn't grow up with my family, so concerned about image that it stifling. You and your dad are best friends. And our little family? Heaven knows we didn't get married for love. She was going to be my family. She was going to be my world. I don't need you to stay for my sake. You can just move on to the next piece of ass that catches your fancy-"

"You know it's not like that-"

"Oh? Not like what? Not like you stay with me out of pity or that you cheat on our marriage with other women when it suits you?"

Wade bit his lip, giving his wife a pleading look. Was this really how it was all going to end? Them screaming at each other in the middle of nowhere?
"I'm desperate, here." He breathed, "I couldn't talk to you, touch you, comfort you. I lost a daughter I never got to meet and my wife was suddenly a stranger to me. And I knew it was my fault, but you were too stubborn to admit it. If I'd just left you alone from the beginning, you would be off taking the world by storm in the courtroom and I'd be probably doing the same thing I'd always been doing. The cheating... I needed an outlet. I didn't know where we stood, but I sure as hell wasn't leaving you. I needed to be near you. I needed to know that you were coming home safe every night and that you were eating and at the same time I felt like my existence was only hurting you. I missed you. I missed feeling her kick and your weird cravings and reading books and planning our life together. I wanted a family with you. I wanted her family with you."

The dark haired woman was shaking, the image of her glassy eyes ready to spill over causing Wade's own to tear up. Her next words came out as more of a mumble and he didn't quite catch it.
"I said that I never blamed you for that night." She sniffed. "I was as much a part of it as you were. Just as culpable."

"I should have been prepared. " He added softly.

"I should have too." She wiped her cheek with the heel of her hand before crossed her arms. Wade's hands twitched, really wanting to give her a hug, but knowing it would only make things worse at this point. His heart nearly broke at her next words, "I couldn't hold on to her." She gasped, "Everything was going fine and then my body let go of her. I messed up. I didn't eat right or I let myself get too stressed or I exercised too much and she was gone." Her breathing became erratic and big tears began rolling down her face.

"Cecily..." He begged, needing to do something other than uselessly stand there.
"Wade." She warned, catching her breath.
Enough. A voice inside him said. He'd had enough of this stillness and silence, waiting for her to be alright, waiting for himself to start feeling alright. He wasn't alright. Far from it, he was dying inside and if they continued with this, they would both die.

He hugged her. Tightly enough that she couldn't push him away this time.

"What are you doing? I don't need you to comfort me."

"If you really want me to leave your life, then tell me to move out. Tell me it's all my fault and you're done with me."

"Wha- what are you talking about?"

"I can't do this walking on eggshells anymore. I'm done waiting for you to want me around again. Regardless of the reasons why, we got married and we were actually happy for a while. I think we can find that again, even if it takes time. I'm willing to find out. I don't want to go anywhere or be with anyone else. But if me being around is making you feel responsible - you're not - you had no fault in that matter. No one thinks otherwise. If me being around is making this too hard for you, then I'll leave. I don't want to hurt you anymore and I can't stay away when you're like this. No one loved her more or worked harder for her than us. You went through multiple highlighters reading those books. You followed the diets to a "t". I remember you waking me up at two in the morning because you walked by a sushi restaurant and weren't sure if proximity to raw fish put the baby in danger."

The delicate woman sobbed openly, giving up on pushing her husband away for now. "Well I'm not happy either. I see you and I'm so sad and angry and scared and I don't know what to do about it anymore. What if we're supposed to move on and I go back into law and you're supposed to quit that desk job? You only took it for the baby. You keep looking for me to give you a sign like you need my permission to go or stay or I don't know, Wade, but I don't have all the answers and you should just do what makes you happy. I don't want to feel like you're stuck with me if that's not what you want. I-I don't know what I want. I miss you too, but you also remind me of how much I've lost and it hurts. You've hurt me, I've hurt you, what kind of marriage are we even living if that's all we do? Logic says we should start fresh, right? We can't erase our past. Let's just stop! Ok. I'm releasing you. I'm sick of all of this. I can't handle-"She paused to breath "th-thi-this. So let go of me and leave. That will be easier for me. All the in between sucks."

"Ceci..." He sighed, feeling completely useless. "Fine," his voice had become gravelly with emotion and frustration, "We'll go our separate ways then?"

"Yes." She replied curtly.

He stared at her disbelievingly. This was it? In the middle of nowhere they were just going to separate and never see each other again? But... it was what she wanted and he didn't have the energy to disagree. "Alright," He began softly and offered her another hug, which, to his surprise, she took. He wondered if that didn't hurt even more. "I'll call you if I find town." She nodded, releasing him and taking some steps back.
"I'm-"
"Don't apologize. Let's just... leave it at this."

She looked at him, the pain on his face and slumping of his shoulders indicating he was just as war torn as her.

He looked at her, puffy eyes and rigid stance burning itself into his memory as the moment their marriage ended. Funny, when it had been stretching thin for years only to be severed so cleanly now.

They turned, there was no first or last.

~Prompt #22~

Your character just bought a house in Washington, a single parent with a 2 year old. While moving in their child wanders into the woods, and after going in to find them finds the child sitting on a high tree branch, happy and content, smiling at nothing. Using your least favorite character you've ever written, what would their reaction be?

~~~
* I don't know if he is my least favorite character ever written, but he is current least favorite to RP right now and I really struggle with him.
Elric's heart beat fast as he ran through the forest, looking for that kid. How much trouble could a two year old get into? He had thought to himself. Surely, I can take my eyes off of him for a couple minutes to just move this last box inside. No, he couldn't. Apparently, the looks and chuckles he had gotten regarding the "terrible twos" had been for good reason.
The model ducked and weaved through the trees, calling the boy's name until he finally came across him, sitting high up on a tree, trying to reach for a squirrel.
"Martin!" He called, followed by a string of curse words. "Get down from there now!" He then realized that he was saying these words to a two year old. Two year olds don't know how to climb properly. How had he even gotten up there in the first place? That didn't matter now.
"I'm coming! Stay right there." He started up the tree towards him, noticing a good sized birds nest and a few squirrel burrows along the way. He couldn't remember the last time he had even climbed a tree. Probably when he was about ten or so back when he lived on Makires. "Don't move or I will personally kick your ass back to Kentucky." He warned more for himself than the kid. He kept his eyes on him until he finally caught the rascal before he could get too acquainted with the forrest creatures.
Martin didn't seem at all concerned by his close call with death, a fact that really irritated Elric. The brat was going to drive him insane if he kept up these kinds of shenanigans.
"I'm not giving you spaghetti for a week." He declared and Martin's face knitted into a frown before the argumentative babbling began. That's better. He thought to himself, climbing back down with the munchkin securely attached.
~Prompt #25~
Write a conversation between a person who talks a lot and a person who responds with only a few words.
Una sits in a chair, patiently watching the clock tick by. When the door opened, she turned her head to meet a young teenager smiling brightly walk in. He had tan skin that juxtaposed his crystal blue eyes. Almost abrasively, he walks directly up to her and holds out his hand.
"Hey there, the name's Lance. You waiting here for someone?"
Una wasn't sure if she should respond to the strange boy. Her lord was still off acting for his scene and sure, she was waiting for him to finish, but she didn't think that was any business of the boy's.
Seeing the girl wasn't in the mood to talk, Lance nodded easily and took a seat near her. "I am too. My boyfriend is doing a scene right now too, but he should be getting out soon, so I told him I'd wait for him here. We're in a bit of an action series, so I hope he doesn't get himself hurt."
Still nothing.
"Ok, you're not a talker, I get it. That's fine. I'm actually pretty good at it if you couldn't tell." He smiled with an added wink. Una tried to block him out, but she couldn't. The boy was determined to let off whatever was weighing on his heart.
"Go ahead and speak. I have a while before my Lord will finish with his scene."
Lance's face softened in appreciation.
"So his name's Keith. He's hot-headed and reckless and probably still believes he's invincible. He's not, though. I can't count how many times we've hurt ourselves protecting the galaxies..."
