My friend feels that there's something in her past that she's blocked out. I found her a therapist in a nearby town who does hypnotherapy, but she's reluctant to go. Anyone here have experience with this - positive or negative?

Hypnosis may help if that is the same thing as Hypnotherapy.

Don't know if it's the same. Just asking if anyone has experience with this kind of therapy and if it's effective.

I never been hypnotized but I have read a couple books about it.

I've talked with her about it again, and I think maybe she'd rather not dredge up the past, even though her doubts are affecting her marriage. And maybe hypnotherapy isn't reliable and could cause more problems. It might be that just talking about it with me is helping her.

The BBC did a good documentary on Hypnosis. When you have time watch it.
