This election has been nuts, to put it mildly; and yet, Americans continue to toe the "party line." How detrimental is partisanship to the American voting bloc? And why do we still engage when it's been made plain that the "two party system" is a ruse?

I think there's a wide gap between seeing the problem and fixing the problem. As it is now, a vote for Jill Stein is as good as a vote for Trump. That's over-simplifying a bit but the point is that third parties aren't big enough to take on the big two at the national level.

I'd like to see third parties build their membership through success in local and state elections. They might then be able to get representation in congress and the senate. That alone would be huge because now we're back to forming coalitions like when there were southern democrats working with republicans.

Jill Stein won't win this election, you're right; however, as long as we continue to vote for the "lesser of two evils," then "two evils" will continue to be our only options. If we're going to have better options in the future, we have to begin the work today. Third party candidates become viable once we the people support them with our votes; it won't happen suddenly. Considering all that's at stake, we need to start now.
