What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I remember reading a really good young adult novel, but I can only remember the essence of the tone, nothing about the plot or characters. I do remember one part: the main character, a girl, visits this old halfway house owned by this eccentric old woman who has filled her house with books from top to bottom, to the point that it's a maze (reading as a strength is an important element of the plot, like you can learn anything from books you need to, or something). There may have been a boy and a girl as the main characters, and they were hiding from someone. The kitchen had wallpaper with lemons and limes that you could lick and it would actually taste like the fruit.

Well, I'm not sure about the rest of it, but the wallpaper that tastes like fruit could be from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory....Is it possible you're mixing up two books?
