Susan Margaret (susanmargaretg) Below is a link to a free online Catholic Bible Study course. The course was built around Scott Hahn's textbook "Understanding the Scriptures". It is not necessary to purchase Hahn's book in order to follow the course. The study has thirty lectures and each is approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. I am on lecture nine and I am enjoying the series. The name of the lecturer is Carson Weber.

Susan Margaret (susanmargaretg) The St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology offers free bible study courses and they also have audio courses. If you are interested, here is the link:

That looks great Susan. Have you tried any? I bet anything by Scott Hahn would be excellent.

In addition to Susan's links, there is also Lighthouse Catholic Media and Now You Know Media where you can get Catholic based downloads and educational material.

Lighthouse Catholic Media are mostly speeches and downloads. They are not free but very inexpensive:

Now You Know Media are formal college level courses by actual professors and spiritual counselors. They are a bit more expensive though but make sure you wait for a sale.

I just checked out your second link Manny and I love it. I think I'll definitely be getting some dvds from there.

Doreen, from my experience, the courses are just as good in audio as DVD. Unless it's a specific course that requires visuals, and those are rare, the extra cost for the visuals don't seem worth it to me. If I buy a course it's usually as MP3 download. MP3 used to be cheaper than CDs but now they're the same price. I still get the MP3s since I don't have to pay for shipping and I get it instantaneously. They maintain your library where you can Red own load as needed. If I knew how to share I would let you sample one from my library. But I don't know how to do that.

Actually I prefer the dvds.

Lisa | 185 comments My parish did The Bible Timeline. Jeff Cavins does the dvd's. Excellent program leading through salvation history. There's also a Timeline program for teens that our youth ministry did.

I love the 'Now You Know Media' courses! When we go on long road trips, I usually try to find a new one, or dig out an old favorite, and that's what we listen to.

I'm seriously thinking of getting the gospel of Matthew dvd set.

Oh, that sounds interesting! I bought a series on the entire New Testament a few years back and I don't even want to admit I never listened to it. I wanted to make time for it, do a real study, and then we moved and I haven't gotten back to it since then.

My wife and I are driving up to Minnesota this weekend and plan to split our time listening to these lessons, listening to old Bishop Sheen radio talks and to live webcast of EWTN radio. There are some wonderful aspects to modern life.

Unfortunately Susan, Susan Margret has kind of disappeared. She used to be our moderator, and did it all be herself for a while. She was a treasure, and I'm always hoping with a silent prayer that all is well with her and she comes back. It was sort of sudden and I'm hoping something terrible didn't happen.

Florence Bernice (florencebernice) | 10 comments Scott Hahn's new Bible study entitled "Parousia: The Bible and the Mass" is free to stream until April 5th, 2021. It's a ten-lesson video series, approx 15-20 minutes each. He explains how from Creation to Revelation, everything points to the Mass.

I have already watched Lessons 1-8 and I have learned tremendously. It's also a joy to watch Scott Hahn host it, he loves the faith.

I just saw the first episode. It's wonderfully produced, almost like the Bishop Barron series. I'm hooked!

This will make a wonderful retreat during the Triduum off the computer!

I just watched all the episodes. It's wonderful. I never would have thought there would be so much new ideas in there. That last lesson was a complete revelation. He's brilliant. It's well worth watching.

Lisa | 185 comments I really enjoyed doing this study during Lent. I already owned all four of the books referenced, so they made for great Lenten reading
