Lori entered her station and placed her bag gently on a chair next to hers. She pulled out her chair and sat down elegantly. Her bag was placed neatly on the chair next to hers and she sat there, willing to answer any questions that came along. Of course, they should be intelligent questions, because if you are trying to get into Erudite, you should be willing to at least seem smart.

Alex walks up to the erudite table and looks around. "Um hi. I'm Alex." She says. She politely waves and straightens her orange dress.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Lori smiled at the girl, Alex, she said her name was. "Hello Alex." Lori said politely. "You may call me Lorena." She went by her middle name, and only anyone that was basically not younger than her called her Lori. And she just didn't like the name Emma, so no point in going by that.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

"Hi Lorena. So what's all this?" She gestures to the table. She's quite fascinated by anything erudite. She hopes to one day be a doctor and she figures being erudite gives her a good chance.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Lorena continues smiling at the girl, but what's all this? It was clearly a table. "Well, if you mean Erudite..." She trailed off. Just wanting to check the girl, and it was fun to keep future initiates on their toes.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

"You know what I mean. You're erudite so clearly you understood what I was insinuating. Otherwise you wouldn't be a trainer." Alex states. She stands there patiently waiting for an explanation.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Lorena crossed her arms, clearly not amused by the girl. She was Lori, and she took no hooey. "Alex," She said rather calmly. "I do know what you mean. But if you want to be Erudite, then you should probably state things more clearly. The Erudite do not make things as vague as possible. Am I clear?" She raised her eyebrows.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

"I'm pretty sure this is an information session. You know where you tell me stuff about erudite. Clearly I'm amity. That means you need to inform me about your life style." Alex crosses her arms. It's for this reason she doesn't fit into amity. She's too sassy, not willing to calmly take direction.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Lori sighed. "It's too bad you're not in Erudite, I would have you punished like that." She snapped her fingers quickly. "But you're not, so I guess I have to at least treat you decently." She stood up and looked down on the girl. "What do you want to know about Erudite?"

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

"Particularly jobs and such. Age requirements for medical jobs. And information on initiation would be useful." Hearing this training is causing her to second guess her decision. Sure she acts all high and mighty but she doesn't like it when other people do.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Her smile returned. Just talking about her faction made everything better. "You can start medical jobs as soon as you get out of initiation, but you start small. Less than a nurse small. In initiation, you go through a series of rather hard tests, plus an IQ test. Almost everyone makes it, but there are a few that choose to be factionless instead." She decided to leave it there. If the girl truly was Erudite, she would become curios and ask why.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

"So when could someone become a surgeon at youngest? And why would someone choose to be factionless? That seems highly illogical to me." Alex says. Being homeless can't possibly be better then being erudite.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

"It all depends on the skill level." She answered honestly. "And for your other questions, imagine having to clean out labs for the rest of your life. Imagine never being able to study, or train, or take part in experiments. Those who do not do as well in initiation, meet this fate." So maybe the girl did have some Erudite spirit in her. That was good. Everyone should have at least a bit...

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

"So how old was the youngest ever surgeon? And wouldn't cleaning labs be better then living with the filthy, dangerous factionless. True it would be aweful to not be allowed to experiment. I wouldn't be able to cope well with that, but choosing to be factionless instead doesn't seem like a logical decision."

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

"Late twenties." Lori answered. "And some people come to their senses at that point. They know they won't be treated equally, so they decide to go to the Factionless."

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

"Ok." Alex says. "Is there another trainer for initiation?" She asks. She needs to ask all her questions now or they will never be answered.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Lori nodded. "Yes, but he isn't here today. Just one representative, and that's me." She enjoyed the girl's curiosity. Maybe she was cut out for Erudite.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

"Got it. And how many initiates are typically in a group each year?" She asks. So far she's hearing things that excite her. She finds herself looking forward to the choosing ceremony more and more.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Lori frowned. "Decent amount, but like I said, almost everyone makes it. If you don't make it, it's because you chose not to make it." She didn't want to scare the girl off. Alex seemed more and more like a great Erudite initiate, with every word she said!

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

"And what jobs are available to first year faction members?" She asks. She needs to know all her options when she decides on a faction. It's her entire life on the line.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

"Oh, just the usual. You've got a school teacher, doctor, scientist, engineering, technology workers, all that jazz. Erudite has a lot of jobs to offer, some of the most in all the factions." Lori wanted to hook the girl, though that probably wasn't possible unless she said the thing she wanted to hear. And that was probably something to do with medicine, the way she asked about it. However, Lorena didn't want to give her any false hopes with any other hooks she threw out...

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

"But you said to start out in medicine you would need to start smaller then a nurse. That wouldn't be a doctor." Says Alex. She needs to know if she can fulfill her dream or not. It's her number one priority.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

"Mmm-hmm." She nodded. "You do start smaller than a nurse. Doctor just sorta left me there." She frowned at her sudden stupidity deal. "So doctor's lower lower person. Does that sound better?"

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

"Ok i get that now." Alex says. "How much are initiates involved in daily faction life and full members?"

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Lori smiled. "Everyone is involved fully in the society, not so much the kids, but initiates and up." They couldn't give the kids work of course, because who knew if they would transfer. And then what about the Erudite information?

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

"How do full members act toward initiates? I know everyone can't be exactly the same but how would the typical erudite act?" Alex asks. The more she hears, the more she wants to be dauntless. Sure she's like to be a surgeon sooner but atleast it's attainable.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

"Everyone treats everyone as equals, unless your cleaning labs all day." Lori said. Cleaning was the only exception. If you were cleaning, it meant you were not smart enough to be in Erudite.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

"Alright." Alex racks her brain for more questions. "And just to be clear girls and boys have the same chances to get jobs?"

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Lori nodded. "Like I said, everyone has equal status. Except..." She new she didn't need to finish the rest. It was pretty obvious.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

"Yeh I got it.just getting everything straight so I can make an informed decision." Alex says. "Where do initiates live during training?"

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

"You are separated into two dorms, one for boys, and one for girls. It's unhygienic to combine them, like the Dauntless do." She shuttered at the thought of the Dauntless and their combination rooms. "And each gender has their own restroom!" Lori added quickly.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

"Good." Alex says. The thought of sharing a room with the guys is so unsanitary it almost make her gag. "Well thank you for answering my questions." Alex says.

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Lori smiled yet again. "It was my pleasure Ms. Alex. I hope to see you in Erudite during initiation." She had grown a soft spot for the girl, and that could help her if she did go to Erudite.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Alex smiles. She can picture herself in erudite. It feels like it could be her home. "Thank you again." Alex gives a promising smile an then turns around and walks away.

(view spoiler)

Elias grumbled darkly to himself as he marched into the large hall, yanking his oversized scarf away from his neck. He was running late thanks to a miscalculation within the labs, so thanks to the second year Erudite's, there was now a lab out of use due to an explosion.
He threw down his satchel, taking his seat next to Lori, offering her a very brief smile before focusing on the moving crowds of possible initiates.
