Also, do you/did you solve the mystery before the characters? I never can, though I often pick up on the clues that are mentioned.P.S. Hannah's question is excellent.
Hannah wrote: "Obviously, my first question is: If you were a space courtesan what would your "specialty" be?"Oh please. Washing feet, of course.
How do you feel about the corporate sponsored prostitution thing? Also, why does it keep sounding like the courtesans have a monopoly on doing it? There are ladies on the mining base too, seems like there'd be plenty of old-fashioned promiscuity too.
I do appreciate the courtesans being badass smarty pantses in addition to other skills. Even if they are annoying and prissy in the process...
I can't wrap my head around sex in zero - g. Wouldn't the force of thrust propel the two participants in opposite directions, assuming they aren't somehow strapped to each other?
Emily wrote: "I can't wrap my head around sex in zero - g. But when you consider some of the 'specialties' those are probably perfected for zero-g.

Wasn't there something in the first-ish part of the book about the women being segregated from the men?
If turning gravity on for an occasional shower is a luxury one would have to tap into their savings to afford, how do you imagine things go down when someone on the ship has to take a dump?(Ha ha, go down - a little spaceship brothel AND gravity for pooping humor there)
You may not have been serious about the space dump, but here's a link: http://www.space.com/22597-space-poop...
and there are videos of astronauts on the International Space Station explaining the process on Youtube.

Ah, so our courtesans and captain would strap on fecal bags and use "finger cots" to help "move things along"...sexy! ;)
What did you think of the book's portrayal of trauma. Did you think it was beneficial to, or unnecessary for, the plot?
What did you think of the fact that there were multiple bad guys in the story?Three to my count, though I don't want to give spoilers. I enjoyed there being different types of bad guys as it was realistic.
Meghan wrote: "If you were the Captain, would you utilize your shipmates for sexytimes?"Interesting question. While probably tempting, also has the possibility of throwing off the power structure
Emily wrote: "I can't wrap my head around sex in zero - g. Wouldn't the force of thrust propel the two participants in opposite directions, assuming they aren't somehow strapped to each other?"lol, listen to "A Reconsideration (Zero-G Sex)" by Kristoph Klover.
Read a novel years ago where one partner kept a shirt on, unbuttoned, and the other held the shirt's edges with both hands, holding them together.
If you got handed the free token to visit with one of the courtesans (not knowing a lot of the behind the scenes stuff going on on that ship), who would it have been? Why? And what non-sex thing would you have done?
Broader question:Do you ever get irritated in a murder mystery when youve come up with the perfect solution in your head, only to have it dashed?
Happened twice already for me, lol.
How do you shave in zero gravity? Could it be your special ability that you taught miners? I enjoy Hannah's question. Jeff's question is spot on what were they mining? Something that creates gravity?
(*at the door with #graysweatpants on*)first off, this book was a surprising good read. it promised so much and yet could have been so much more. yes, it reminds us of a certain show which only lasted one season and may have been taken off for a lack of sex positive views. do you consider yourself sex positive/sex negative?
also, the sexy times should have left the reader soaking. just based on this term 'space brothel'.
so, all in all, good read, after the next(regency)pick needs to be total smut. total!
oh, and thank you @feliciaday for making this book so hard to find. popped my kindle+cellphone cherry. bye @feliciaday ..L0L ;)
I just want to thank everyone who read the book and, of course, the great ladies of the VFBC for picking it!As noted, there is a second book in the series with Sean as the main character! In the Void
And a free short story with Jenny and Sam! Interlude 1.1
For those of you who would like to read of my more recent work, I have TWO menage novels coming out from MacMillan in less than two weeks! Betting on Both
and Game On
. If you'd like a Steamy September, here's a good start!BTW - hope you enjoy Tessa Dare and Courtney Milan! Tessa's "Spindle Cove" series is a fantastic read and both authors do strong, powerful women who I can't wait to read about again and again!
