"The culmination of a unique achievement in modern American literature: the six volumes of autobiography that began more than thirty years ago with the appearance of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings."

I read this book for my Week 28 topic: A biography, autobiography, or memoir.

While there are 7 autobiographies written by Ms. Angelou, this one completes the main arc, bringing us from her first memories to the point where she started writing them down. This was choppier than the other ones but I found myself highlighting quotes every few pages.
