We are going with a staple topic this month! So for all of the science fiction lovers, now if your time to shine! This month's topic will focus on science fiction reads. This is a great opportunity to share some amazing reads all the way from YA books to adult graphic novels. I'm looking at you, Saga lovers!

Some examples:

Frankenstein

Don't forget to share you videos and blog post on the other thread! Happy rec-ing!

Same here. I'm not for sure if any are coming to mind. I either have read none or maybe like 1 or 2. I'm really not sure.

Remember, you are free to only recommend a couple of books if you want, or you can skip the month if you need to and get recommendations from other group members!

message 7: by Emily (new)

Emily Hean (emilysarahhean) I hardly read any science fiction so I doubt I'll be helpful with recommendations, but I'll definitely read some of the recommendations here so that I can become more well-versed in this genre!

message 8: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (an80slady6886) I can't stand science fiction. The only science fiction books that I can remember reading were in high school and Junior high when we were required to read The Time Machine by H.G. Wells and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley (think that is the author).

I'm sorry that most of you don't like this months topic, but don't forget that Dystopia also fits under the umbrella of sci-fi.

Here are some more popular sci-fi examples I can think of:
The Giver (The Giver, #1) by Lois Lowry Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera Ready Player One by Ernest Cline Illuminae (The Illuminae Files, #1) by Amie Kaufman Under the Dome by Stephen King Passenger (Passenger, #1) by Alexandra Bracken The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth

Emily Hean (emilysarahhean) I'm not sure if super heroes count as science fiction, but the Super Powered series by Drew Hayes is incredible, and you can read it on his blog or buy it on a kindle!

message 11: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Yes can't wait Science fiction is such a amazing genre.

It's not so much that I don't like it, just that the few I have read in the genre are the popular ones (Brave New World, Hunger Games, Divergent) so I don't feel like I will have the best recommendations :) But it is a genre I am slowly getting more into, so I look forward to seeing what other people suggest. Maybe everyone who loves sci-fi will be able to ease the rest of us in!

Karou | 1 comments This is my month!!! I love sci-fi. I would recommend Illuminae and Ready player one, hope you guys enjoy them!

Kayla (Heroic Pages) (heroicpages) | 4 comments I can't wait!!! Mainly I want to see what people rec...so I can read them!!

message 15: by Lisa Piazza (new)

Lisa Piazza (brandnewbooksmell) Yeah!! I am so excited for Science Fiction September! I am new to BookTube, still considering if I'm going to start a channel myself. But I love watching all of your videos and especially love all the recommendations. I have never (ahh, the shame) read a graphic novel! However I just purchased Saga #1 and its on my TBR list this month! As for what I would recommend? Ready Player One!!! I may be a tad older than you all so the 80's connection was pretty awesome for me! Loved it! Looking forward to other recommendations!!

Julia (Shakespeare and Such) (shakespeareandsuch) | 1 comments I just started my booktube channel and I'm so excited for this to be my first monthly recommendations video! I've already got a list started in my head...

Jessica (novelcravings) (novelcravings) | 9 comments I love this months topic. I recently got new bookshelves and organized my read section by genre. I was surprised that my science fiction section was so big! (Ok Dystopian accounted for a lot of it and I didn't realize it was a part of the science fiction genre) And it still doesn't hold a candle to my fantasy section LOL So I'm looking forward to more recommendations to add to my TBR.

Jessica (novelcravings) (novelcravings) | 9 comments Also, may I make a topic suggestion? YA Historical Fiction. This is admittedly a selfish suggestion because it is a genre I want to read more of!

Thank you for the suggestion! Since we only do 12 topics per year I'm not sure how quickly we will get to it but I wrote it down and we will keep it in mind!

message 20: by Dea (new)

Dea (deazbooks) | 1 comments I literally JUST finished Saga vol. 1!!! So amazing. I would also definitely recommend reading Illuminae for a sci-fi novel, especially for all of you who are saying you don't read much of sci fi! It is so easy to get pulled right into the story, keeps you hooked from page 1!
