The Pandemonium Club is an all-ages nightclub in New York. It was a place where Downworlders and mundanes mingled. Shadowhunters also came to catch demons that sneak their way into the club. Jocelyn had told Clary that she never wanted her to go there because Shadowhunters often went there to catch demons. As it happened, this was where Clary met Jace, Isabelle, and Alec Lightwood for first time, and, according to Simon, is the place that changed her.

Isabelle Lightwood wished she could be normal. Because if she was, she'd be partying right now, on the middle of the dance floor, not scanning the room for demons. Isabelle loved her life, sure, but she kind of wished she wouldn't have to worry about all this. Isabelle pushed through the mass of sweaty, ever moving, bodies, scanning the crowd for anything out of the ordinary. She'd been here for over an hour now. Isabelle was tired, sweaty and just wanted out.

If this is up to date with the bookseries, aren't Simon and her engaged?

Aurae danced among the many bodies of Pandemonium. The place was full of fairies, warlocks, and demons, so an anthropomorphic bunny rabbit with blue fur wasn't completely out of place. It was at a dance club like this, set deep within the Crystal Caves, where Aurae and their boyfriend first met. While the strobbing lights weren't the product of magic gemstones illuminating a dark cavern, it reminded them of that golden time in their early life. A life they so desperately missed. Aurae wound up in this universe shortly after their own realm was destroyed by Aziz, and Aurae fell through one Void into another, the demon's world. It took a lot of light magic and a few weeks before they successfully crawled out of a manhole, which apparently lead into Hell and not a sewer, as one might expect. They swung their hips to the beat of the electronic music, glowing bracelets on their wrists and glow sticks in hand.

Isabelle took a tentative step. Her feet ached like hell. Beauty was pain, that much Izzy knew, but she really should have worn more sensible shoes. Isabelle looked in the corner of her eye and saw the strangest thing. dancing among the mundanes as if without a care, was a bunny with blue fur. Isabelle had never seen a dancing bunny before, and it took her a few seconds to process. Then it dawned on her - it was obviously a demon. Isabelle felt almost giddy with excitement that she'd found something. Isabelle half ran, half stumbled her way towards the rabbit.

Shadowhunter Academy says they're engaged, their engagement party was on Max's birthday. See wiki for more info. I didn't know this but it pleases me.

Pelvic thrusting as if their life depended on it, some club-goers commented on their 'suit,' and how realistic it was. Aurae only giggled in response, this world was weird. Humans so ignorant of the magic obviously all around them, especially here, in this club. Aurae couldn't tap into it or use it, but they could feel it pulsing like a heartbeat, the energy of vitality leaking off of the humans and making the air thick with life force. No wonder those dark things - by that, Aurae meant demons, although they didn't know what they were called in this reality - used this place as a feeding ground. But none of them came close to the alien, as Aurae's body took in the energy like a demon's would, feeding off of the positivity, not so much the mortality.

(I'll add that onto my character in a second. That makes me so happy, though!)

Isabelle fingered her necklace, the one she always wore. Something about the idea of fighting a demon that looked like a bunny rabbit gave Isabelle shivers. she couldn't kill it here - too many mundanes - so she'd have to come up with something. Isabelle wished Alec were here. She'd called him a while ago. Last she checked, he'd been with that warlock, Magnus. Pandemonium brought back fond memories for Isabelle. It was where she'd met Clary Fray, and where Clary had killed her first demon. Isabelle was shoved by some mundane dancing, and she stumbled, but corrected herself. Isabelle stepped up beside the bunny, unsure what to do.

important, is she wearing a wig? Also, Alec/Magnus' adopted kids?! I'm so damn behind.

(Yes to the wig. I don't actually know if the kids names are in the series, but Cassandra Clare did specify that they had them. I'll look it up.)

(They have one son named Max Lightwood-Bane, after Izzy and Alec's little brother, and another named Rafael Lightwood-Bane.)

MAX! -cries-

Aurae looked over at the girl in the platinum blonde wig, and smirked. "Nice hair, where'd you buy it," implying they knew it was fake. "It looks real, but no one has that good of a root job." Aurae flashed the girl a smile.

(I know right! That was so sad!)

Isabelle blinked, her usual cool composure gone. Demons liked blondes, or so Jace had told her. Isabelle stood there for a second, unsure what to do. Then she grabbed the bunny by the arm. "Come with me." She let go, the wove away into the crowd. Isabelle kept her hand on her seraph blade, ready to yank it out at any time.

Confused, yet intrigued, the rabbit followed the fake blonde through the sea of sweaty teenagers and young adults grinding and dry humping - or as they called it, 'dancing'. Aurae didn't like being pulled around, or being touched without consent unless it was by their boyfriend, who could touch them anywhere, anytime. Still, the girl was interesting, even if her grip was rather tight.

Isabelle led them into the back room. Isabelle remembered when Clary had first seen her in this very room, killing a demon. She slid through the door. Isabelle pulled out her blade. She felt extremely unsettled by the fact that she was about to kill a bunny rabbit. Isabelle couldn't shake this strange feeling, like she was doing something wrong. Isabelle let the door slide shut behind her and stepped back into the shadows, waiting for the rabbit to come through. Then she'd be ready.

Aurae walked in, confused as they looked around the room and could not see the girl. "Hello?" They called out, cupping their paws around their maw to shout. Aurae felt something was off and was prepared to use LV to defend themself.

Isabelle took a breath, and before reconsidering stepped out. "You were different. I'm sorry." Isabelle had never apologized to a demon, and it felt unnatural. Isabelle held her blade out and put it to the bunny's neck. But she hesitated. isabelle couldn't explain why she was like this tonight any simpler than she didn't want to kill the rabbit. But it was her duty as a Shadowhunter. Isabelle took a breath. She'd do it on the count of three. One, two...

The chest region in which Aurae's heart resided glowed as a protective spell was cast. A radiating white light rippled from the spot of the illuminated heart - the cartoon <3 which flickered above the fur-coated breast of the genderless rabbit. The energy knocked the white-haired girl back, and might have been felt by others outside of the room, as Aurae's LOVE for things was strong, so was their magic. "I'm so sorry, I didn't want to hurt you, but you...you held...I..." The rabbit began shedding tears at the thought of harming a friend.

Isabelle was knocked back and before she could stop herself, she screamed. Isabelle landed hard. She groaned and sat up, still in shock. "What are you?" she whispered to the rabbit. They couldn't have been a demon, that much Isabelle knew. What if she had killed them? That might have gone against the Shadowhunter code. Isabelle reached towards her blade and slipped it away, as if to show the rabbit she wasn't going to hurt them.

Aurae wiped tears from their eyes and offered Isabelle their hand, "I am Aurae. And I'm afraid your world is in grave danger. I believe I came here because the Veils were thin here already. Your kind isn't unfamiliar with invasion, those dark things that feed on the humans in this club. Vitality pours off of them, waves of energy that make me feel all bubbly and silly. They eke out life into that dark, dead world of your's. A harsh reality, like mine had become, AFTER. I can feel it from you, too. Like blood coming from a fresh wound, your evaporating life force like fire in my veins." They said, in a daze. Were they like those demons, drinking in the essence of humans? No, not their life, their emotions. The happiness, horniness, love, lust. They felt the room pulse, like the beating of heart to the beating of the DJ's music. Life, but not life force. Energy, but not life energy. It was emotions, feelings, all good and warm and fuzzy and wet and hot and sweaty. It made Aurae drunk. They had never felt pleasure like this before, in their PG world, they never had the chance to sleep with their boyfriend before he was torn apart, like the rest of them, by Aziz. They shook the cobwebs from their mind. "A great evil I helped create is coming to rule your world, and many other. There isn't much time." Aurae said. The glow stick that were formerly in their paws sat a while away, the light dying. Something, like a warm breath on the back of their neck, told Aurae evil was near. The lights dimmed.

Isabelle took Aurae's hand and stood. She was incredibly confused. Mixed with confusion was an alien emotion - fear. Isabelle Lightwood was not known to be afraid, yet right now she was terrified. Aurae's tale struck fear into Isabelle's very core. "T-there's a place, an institute. I can take you there if you want to be safe from this evil. We can protect you." Isabelle took a deep, shuddering breath. "I'm Isabelle. I'm a Shadowhunter. We hunt demons."

"I'm not running, I'm warning. You...you hunt those things out there, drinking in the souls of mundanes? D-dimans?" Aurae mispronounced the word, it was like learning a new language. It help such a strange context of fear and glory, dripping with vile poison and a tinge of reverence*. "You might be able to combat his HATE. We must assemble your people, these...hunters of shadows, and maybe your armies can fight him off." Aurae suggested. They nodded, "I will...accept your invitation to this institute of yours." They only hoped they would be allowed to get in. Something told Aurae that place would not be like this, where evil could walk. Would this alien being of another world e allowed through?

*demon-daemon-lesser greek deities, 'small gods'

Isabelle smiled. "Demon. I promise you, Aurae, we will do everything we can. If you come with me-" Isabelle paused to think. Jace and Clary will want to know. Then the Council. I can't do it without the Council." Isabelle paced in a circle, muttering to herself. She stopped. "Come. I'll take you there and deal with the council later." However unwise Isabelle's move was, she needed to get Aurae to safety. Isabelle took a step, but once again reconsidered. Taking them to the institute might be a violation of the Shadowhunter code. Isabelle sighed loudly.

"What is wrong? There isn't much time, Aziz can be coming to your reality any second. If he gained enough power, he could destroy everything in your world, like he did to mine." Aurae urged Isabelle to continue walking.

Once they get to the institute, where neither Aziz or Aurae can actually enter.

((Sorry I didn't reply! First day of school plus sports tryouts equals one awful hectic mess.))

Isabelle took a breath. "There will be consequences. I'm willing to face those." Isabelle took a step and urged Aurae to follow her. "The clave will find this interesting. I'm sure they'll understand." But Isabelle wasn't so sure. What was the worst that could happen? she thought. A list of horrible options was already forming in her head, yet she still walked out.

doors? Pandemonium has no doors, though

(To the Institute? Aurae would be unable to enter, like a Vampire or a Demon, as they are from another world, much like Demons themselves, but in a more extreme case.)

Aurae followed the girl in the wig. "Consequences? For trying to save the world?" Aurae asked, confused. Why would Isabelle be punished? Aurae chewed on their lip, their ears dropped down in fear of what was coming.

((Yes. I know that, but Izzy doesn't right now.))

Isabelle shrugged off the sinking feeling that grew in her stomach. "No, it'll all be fine." Isabelle whispered, more to herself than anyone else. She wobbled a little in her heels. "Tell me more about this Aziz." Isabelle said to Aurae.

(I'll have him fight with Aziz to establish their relationship)

Aurae paled. "He...was a friend. We were both tutored under Solaris, the former High Sorcerer, whom I succeeded. After I finally shattered Orias's Glass Heart, Sol named me his heir. Aziz was not pleased, and like Oriax before him, succumbed to HATE. His HATE corrupted his magic, his very being, and with a weapon of mass destruction, he destroyed my world, my friends and family, and the Veils that separated all things."

Isabelle couldn't help but think of Valentine. She swallowed hard. "I-I'm sorry, Aurae. I know what it's like to lose people." Isabelle kept seeing Max's face. He'd been nine. Nine. As if a shadow had appeared, Isabelle's face fell. But as quickly as it had played across her face, it was gone. She wouldn't cry, not today. Isabelle took a deep breath and gave a shaky sigh. She smiled grimly.

I almost misgendered my own character...

They nodded darkly, "We could lose so many more if he succeeds." Aurae said in a grim voice. "I have no one left, as far as I know, he tore apart my reality till nothing was left. Till no one was left. Not even an afterlife or a place for their souls to dwell after the death of the body. They just....no longer exist." Aurae began to choke up.

Before thinking, before even realizing what she was doing, Isabelle pulled Aurae into a hug. She was sobbing. Isabelle had always wanted to hold onto hope that she'd see Max one day. Now though, she knew that living was the most important thing. Living, for the both of them. She would help Aurae, she swore to herself. Isabelle pulled away, wiping her tear-soaked cheeks.

Aurae had gone rigid at the sudden contact with Isabelle. The hug startled them before they could relax and hug back. Isabelle pulled away just as Aurae was about to do so. Aurae felt Isabelle's pain via their empathy light magic, activated by the skin to fur contact, and tears swelled in their eyes. "Oh, Izzy..." Aurae knew she lost someone young, someone named 'Max'.

Isabelle sighed. "He was my brother. I know I never lost as much as you, but..." Isabelle trailed off. She was scared that if she said another word she'd never stop. She only ever spoke to Simon about it. He understood her better than anyone, even Alec. A single tear trickled down Izzy's face. "I'm sorry." She whispered. It seemed almost selfish, that she was sobbing about a single boy, when Aurae had lost her whole world. Then again, Max had been part Isabelle's world.

Aurae looked down at their paws. "I was an only child, although when my family was slaughtered, my mother was heavy with child." They said. Aurae looked up into Isabelle's eyes, "You have not lost as much as I, and shall see to it that you, and everyone else, never shall. We will stop Aziz. All of reality depends on it."

Isabelle nodded. "I'll help you, Aurae, I promise." isabelle felt a new sort of resolve in her gut, one she hadn't felt since Valentine had been defeated. Maybe some part of Isabelle had been hoping that her life would quiet down - that she'd have a life with Simon, that she could life to an old age - but staring into Aurae's eyes, she knew that wouldn't happen anytime soon.

Aurae looked away. "Lets go to this...'institute' of yours before anything happens. Besides, as much as I love raving, those foul things here are making me uncomfortable," Aurae said, pulling Isabelle and themself away from the entrance of Pandemonium.

we gotta wait till Astra gets on to have Isabelle kidnapped, which would happen at the institute, since Aurae can't go inside. I suggest we wait and work on characters in the workshop?
