Purl had been wandering the outskirts of the Neversea Isles, and found an abandoned small wooden boat she had been using to go from island to island, trying to find food. She encountered a few jealous mermaids, who tried to capsize her. It made her wonder if unicorns or fairies were real. Where was she? They kept asking about a "Peter" and if she was a "Darling girl." Whatever that meant. Eventually she arrived at Never Neverland Proper, or just Neverland, the main island within the Neversea. Here she wandered about, and saw signs of intelligent life. Extinguished campfires and such. Maybe someone could help her. Wandering deeper and deeper, she came across a large tree, and dividing by four rivers were four regions, which seemed to exist in a different state of season than the next. "Weird." He said, in half amazement, half confusion.
Whisper was flitting around the winter land in Pixie Hollow. She was playing with a couple of friends. Then horns sounded, coming from the tree. It was the scout fairies alerting everyone of a human nearby. Whisper gathered with the other and they all worked together to build up a protection for the animals before going into hiding.
A strange whistling sound caught her attention. It seemed to be coming from the large tree. Slowly, with her knitting needles ready to be used for defense, Purl inched closer and closer, slowly nearing the tree.
Whisper led a couple of frost talent fairies and a couple glacier fairies to the edge of the winter boarder because they had been asked to. This was just in case the human was able to get past the scout fairies. Whisper watched as the scout fairies grouped together near the winter boarder.
Purl didn't notice anything strange, other than that noise which came from the tree. She crossed over the strange patch where the ice began to form on the ground, as in that quadrant was in perpetual winter, within the confines of the rivers which bordered it.
Whisper and the other frost and glacier talent fairies with her attacked the human. They tried to slow the human down with frost and ice. This human must be stopped to protect their land. Whisper flitted around the human's face and head, using her frost magic there.
peter pan lives here, and the lost boys, so this attack-humans-on-sight, when peter brings girls to neverland, feels out of place a bit. maybe pre-pan pixie hollow, but post-pan feels old fashioned
Purl began to feel the cold winter air get even chillier. "What the what?" she said, as she soon noticed strange bugs buzzing around her. He waved her hand in front of her face, not to swat them away, but brush them away, gently.
Whisper squeaked as she wasn't able to dodge the human's hand and was hit. "Hey!" she shouted, getting knocked off course. She realigned herself and flew at the human.
Purl's jaw dop, "Did that dragonfly just SPEAK?" She cried out, her voice booming to the small fairy's ears. These things...weren't bugs. What were they, then?Tink's profile says she can grow to human size. Granted, she isn't posted yet, so Jude could remove that before approval, but it is just a thought.
((Maybe. ))Whisper and the others covered their ears. "Hey! If you're going to just waltz in here with out Peter or a lost boy, the least you could do is be quieter" She complained
"What ARE you?" Purl asked, adjusting her scarf for the cold weather, "And what is this place? And...do you have any food?"
"We're fairies obviously" Whisper said. "This is the winter area of Pixie hollow. we have food yes" She sighed. humans sometimes. "Where is Peter anyways?" Some of the other fairies shrugged
"Peter...those mermaids asked about him, too. and before you as, no, I'm not a 'Darling.'" Purl said, "I'm Jenna, ah, Purl. I'm Purl."
*The current Darling girl would be Margret Darling, I think. Daughter of Jane, daughter of Wendy.
"I don't care if you're a darling girl or not" Whisper said. "Though Tinkerbell might care. Peter has been missing for a while" Whisper sighed
Something about all of this was vaguely familiar, like a story her mother told her when she was little. The names of Peter, Darling, and Belle were on the edges of her memory. "Well, can I have some of your food? I've been surviving off of the few fish I can catch for the past...month or two?" Purl had lost track of time in her voyage.
"You'll have to ask a harvest talent fairy. What we have is enough for ourselves. Harvest talent fairies should be in the autumn area" Whisper said.
She glanced around and found the Autumn region, "Oh, uh, thank you....miss?" Her voice trailed off, obviously asking of the winter fairy's name.
"Whisper" Whisper said proudly. "My name is Whisper and I am a Frost talent fairy." She was proud to be a winter fairy, and it showed by how she looked a bit more flashy than most of the other fairies.
"So you ARE fairies!" She squealed with delight. First mermaids - who were rude - now fairies! "A frost talent fairy?" She asked, confused as to what that meant.
"Yes" Whisper said. "Fairies are assigned different powers and jobs depending on their talent. I'm a frost talent fairy. I make frost for winter"
Purl nodded slowly. "Oh, okay." She said, and began to wander toward the Autumn section. "So...each of these, uh, 'sections' is in perpetual Spring, Autumn, Summer, and Winter, and that is where the fairies for those seasons live?" She assumed.not sure how to keep this going between them
Astra wrote: ""Yes" Whisper said. "Fairies are assigned different powers and jobs depending on their talent. I'm a frost talent fairy. I make frost for winter""
"That would be very much correct" Whisper said as she tried to stay on the winter side while talking to Purl.
Purl nodded, "So you...control nature? Weather and seasons?" She asked, wondering where was she. she doubted she was on another planet in her own realm or reality, magic was real, but this? Fairies who were like nymphs, minor gods of nature? she had no memory of that being true for the city of Gotham.
"Yep. We control nature basically. Every fairy has a job they do and they do it well" She said. "Um, could you maybe move closer to the winter autumn border if we're going to continue to talk."
Purl pulled up her scarf and moved closer. "So, um...how does one get back to Earth from here?" She asked, hoping Whisper knew a way she could get back home to her friends.fairies can go to the Mainland without permission, Tink did it in the a movie, I think. Either way, I'll add London
"Oh that's easy. I can take you to the mainland. No problem. It's getting close to winter on the mainland anyways" Whisper said with an excited tone.
She squeals as her eyes widens. "Really?! You...you can?! I...can go home." She could return to Manny and Rohan? She could go back to Gotham!
"Earth. It is one Earth..." Purl said, "Can we leave now? I was wandering that ocean for so long, I'm not sure how long I've been away. My friends....they must be missing me."San Fransokyo or London?
Purl did her best to follow. "So are we heading to that ocean again? How...how do you get me home?" She didn't understand how this realm worked. The starts looked closer than they should. As if this wasn't a planet, as if the sea around this Neverland was the void of space itself, or encompassed some part of it. Like a flat earth. How would they leave this place? By space ship? She doubted that. It had to be by magic.
"We're going to fly silly. Just believe" Whisper said flying in a few circles around Purl, because pixie dust
Purl's body was coated in a soft powder, similar to pollen or the dust coating a butterfly's wing. It sparkled on her skin, making her look like a stripper with body glitter. Her eyes widened. She felt...weightless. Light. Like a feather. Lighter than air. Like helium. Like a soft cumulus cloud. Slowly, her feet began to leave the ground. She was levitating. "OhMyGawdThisIsHappening!"
Purl did as instructed and flew just behind the small frost fairy, in awe of what she was doing.
Whisper made sure Purl was following exactly where she was going. And in this case, that was to the mainland. London.
