Rachel N. | 2283 comments Cary Elwes tells the story of the making of the movie The Princess Bride. I love this movie so it was fun reading stories of the making of the movie and about the other actors, especially Andre the Giant. Cary does get a bit overly gushy about how wonderful everyone in the movie is and all the wonderful other films they have made which made me lower the rating a bit. Overall I'd say this is a must read if you are a fan of the movie. If you haven't seen the movie yet, do so. I plan on rewatching the movie again soon now with more appreciation for some of the scenes.

If you get the chance you should watch the movie sometime. It's quite funny. I don't think you'd like the book The Princess Bride all that much though.

Why do you say that? Just wondering because I enjoyed both of them tremendously. Elwe's book, OTOH, while I liked it, was just too gushy and 'fake Hollywood' as you said above - although many of the anecdotes were definitely funny and interesting. It surprised me to find out Elwes actually got knocked out during the filming of a scene where he gets hit in the head, for instance. No wonder it looked real - it was!!

Rachel N. | 2283 comments I just think I have somewhat of an idea of what Anita usually likes in a book after being on PBT for so long and I don't see the book really fitting her tastes, though Anita could easily surprise me and love the book :-). This is one of the rare instances where I liked the movie better than the book.

Oh, I see! Didn't realize you were talking directly to Anita. Fog parts. Clarity descends. Thanks for 'splainin'.

Personally, I liked them both about the same. There were parts of the book that were left out that I would have enjoyed seeing in the film - but it was definitely a brilliant adaptation. The casting was pretty much spot on too.

Susie Great movie! We constantly quote lines from it in our house. 'Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?', 'You killed my father. Prepare to die.', 'Mawwidge', 'Inconthievable', the list goes on and on!
