Based on a true story of four lions who escaped the Bagdad Zoo in the 2003 Iraq Invasion, BKV and artist Niko Henrichon tell the beautifully tragic story of those that get left behind in the conflict. Each adult lion represents a different point of view regarding war, and the baby lion stands in for those naive to the consequences of conflict. The art, coloring, and story are all fresh and thoughtful in equal measure. This is a stand-alone graphic novel, but I would read a series of war stories told from the point of view of animals. Especially if BKV wrote it.
