What a great King-Spielberg like show by the guys that were rejected from doing the new IT adaption. I watched it in two sittings and it very much pays homage to King with subtle and not so subtle references. King himself praises it for its similarities and quality. Definitely check it out if you haven't and let me know what you think.

same here! two days and I've watched the series, it was awesome, full of reference, not only to King's works (IT and The body above all, even The firestarter) but also many 80's movies and tv series: Visitors, ET (oh my, the scene with the bycicle), Shocker...even some great episodes from The X Files (90's, I know). Onestly, I fear a second season, I fear they can ruin the athmosphere...the ending was just perfect this way, I really don't know what to wish!!

I want to see more, but the first season was so good, and seemingly tied up the storyline. I think the second season will work if they continue the main themes, but have a new, unique storyline, focusing on new characters.
I was absolutely amazed by the series. The plot, setting, actors, music, script, ending... everything is perfect. I want to see more of this, but as some of you have stated I'm also afraid that it will lose some of its charm,...Anyway, those who haven't watched it have to do that ASAP :)
Agreed it was a great series. My wife and I are terrible about keeping up with all these streaming series (we're still only halfway through Jessica Jones) but we watched an episode a night of Stranger Things. When you have two young children that's quite a steady pace (for us, at least!).And check out this visual reference guide to catch the references you might have missed:

Finished binging Netflix's Stranger Things? Pick up these 12 books nextIt, Stephen King
To be fair, there’s a ton of Stephen King’s books that could be included in this list: The Body, Salem’s Lot, and so on. The Duffer Brothers noted in particular that It is one of the more formative novels in their childhood, and they’ve certainly worked some references to King into their series. A group of teenagers came across a monster, and 28 years later, they’re called back to deal with it once and for all.
Also very glad to see Broken Monsters by Lauren Beukes getting some "mainstream" love.
And here's some lingering questions (warning, spoilers abound in the article) that could lead into the second season.http://www.theverge.com/2016/8/3/1233...
Also interesting to see how Netflix handles "seasons" of their shows.
I also binge watched Stranger Things in a way I seldom find time for! I am conflicted about a second season for all the reasons mentioned above. Thanks for the links Travis.
Anyone else think of Dark Angel?
I think I may be cross referencing threads here but I saw recently that Finn Wolfhard, who played Mike in Stranger Things, has been cast as Ritchie Tozier in the IT remake. I'm so very happy about this as whilst watching ST I kept thinking 'oh I hope the actors they pick for the looser's are as good as these kids!' To be honest the whole cast has shaped up very nicely, looking forward to IT already...

I binged on this too, and found it very nostalgic. As others have already said, it reminded me of King books & Speilberg films. Loved it!
That's it exactly! I loved this show mainly because it felt like King/Spielberg. Cannot wait for the next season.
Just finished this last night. Loved it, too. King himself tweeted it was like watching a 'Steve King's Greatest Hits reel' and it really, really was. My first thought after seeing the first 4 episodes was, 'Universe, please let the Duffer bros do an SK adaptation'. I read somewhere they actually wanted to do It, but were turned down.
Anarchic Rain wrote: "i wish they could do The Dark Tower series. I bet there wouldn't be any black Roland."LMAO
I love the show. While watching I had this feeling that I have seen everything before, even the actors, but I couldn't get a grip on what it was and that is amazing because somehow you have seen it and yet it is still new to you. I have to agree that I don't necessarily want a second season but I am of course open to it. I just hope they won't make a 10 season kind of show out of this.
i'm in love with the serie.. it's amazing, the plot is great, music is the right one.. and the references! ! speacilly to king's. I completely enjoyed it. cant wait for scnd season(pardon my english, im from Argentina
I absolutely loved this show, and I'm very excited for confirmed season 2. I also have the hugest urge to re-read IT. I loved the Stranger Things font the first time I saw the title- all I could see was the name "STEPHEN KING" like on one of my many old paperbacks. I read that it was such a similar font because the creators submitted several book covers as samples to the people working on the title as ideas of what they wanted, and most were Stephen King covers :)
I thought the series was excellent! Here are my reviews http://paullevinson.blogspot.com/2016... and http://paullevinson.blogspot.com/2016...
I can't believe anybody who has watched this hasn't noticed the commonality between Brenner's lab and The Shop in Firestarter, or the similarities between 011/Jane and the Magee's. Even the title looks like an older Viking Stephen King book. Outstanding show! Millie Bobby Brown is an amazing little actress!

I originally tried this show and couldn't get into it but then this week I decided to give it another shot. I must not have been paying close attention to the show the first time around because I am really enjoying it now, I'm glad I gave it another try.
Kandice, I agree 100% that King needs to revisit The Shop. So much unexplored potential so I could see him writing something revolving around the facility and even twisting it into his magnum opus lore. Besides, where is Charlie?
Glen wrote: "Kandice, I agree 100% that King needs to revisit The Shop. So much unexplored potential so I could see him writing something revolving around the facility and even twisting it into his magnum opus ..."I would be more interested in Charlie's sequel than I was in Doctor Sleep.
Ugh, watched this show in one sitting and I loved it. Really, I stayed up 'til, 1 or 2 a.m. It was amazing, nevermind my sore back.Am I the only one who loved the science of the show too? Sure, it IS sci-fi, but there's a good amount of actual science and it just made me love it even more.
A part of me is as concerned as others here about a second season, but the other part thinks about how much I loved the second season of Gravity Falls (yeah, a "kid's show"; fight me), so I just hope for the best. Not all sequel seasons are disappointing

Season 3: dumpster fire"
While I wouldn't go quite as far as dumpster fire, I generally agree with you.
I loved this entire series. Fantastic writing. So glad for streaming services that came along and made shows like this possible. I feel like before streaming we only had HBO and channels like that to make these kinds of shows that network TV would never invest in. It just sucks that now there are soooooooo many streaming services. I miss the days when it was just Netflix.
My daughter made a cake in anticipation of the last two episodes of the season and is watching right now in the other room. I really like the show, but she is borderline obsessed! I love that it's retro, but also fresh.
Angie wrote: "I loved this entire series and am so sad it's over. Fantastic writing. So glad for streaming services that came along and made shows like this possible. WOOOOOWWWW! This is really great work!
WOOOOOWWWW! This is really great work!
@Kandice: Wow, beautiful cake! LoL she captured the essence of the Hellfire Club and she's in for an amazing final two episodes, I loved it so much :-)
Absolutely loved Stranger Things! Had tissues out for the final episode. Everything about the series was brilliant, love the feelings of nostalgia it evoked being set in the 80’s!
Part (Season) 4 was so great! I'm definitely hanging my Demogorgon & Eleven ornaments on the tree this Christmas for sure! ha

Hallmark. Though, probably only available on eBay now. I have an addiction. I have well over 200 ornaments! 95% are geeky. Star Wars, Star Trek, Pirates of the Caribbean, Nightmare Before Christmas, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Marvel & DC comics, etc.

Was just in Salem Mass and when to Count Orlock's monster museum. They had a massive replica of a Demogorgon!
