Welcome ! We're so happy you've joined our group ! Here's what you need to know about the contests held in Writingtowne:

There are two types of contests: open contests and weekly contests .

Open contests -
Anyone can create them , and they can be any type of contest as long as they relate to writing and/or reading . Anyone can enter them as well.
To create an open contest, simply go to the Open Contests topic and post your contest there, as well as a unique number to go along with it . The number is very important, make sure that it is not the same as any other numbers of other contests . You should also write the deadline for entries .
To enter an open contest , first go to the open contests topic, and pick a contest that has a deadline you can meet. Remember the number of that contest !
Then, go to the OPEN CONTEST ENTRIES topic and write/post your entry . At the top , please include a Title, Date, and the number of the contest you are entering !

Voting in Contests (Genre, Prompt, Open)-
Then here's the part about the voting , the MODs are still working on it , but right now we have decided to use polls . People may vote for their favorite entry to a contest, though they may not vote for themselves :) .
Please be considerate and don't leave unnecessarily mean comments on the poll or on other people's work. Respect !
That's all we have for now on open contests . Thanks for reading , (I hope you've read it all because there's important stuff !)

Weekly Contests-
Weekly contests are different than open contests . They are still open to anyone and everyone , but not everyone can create one .
We have two types of weekly contests , genre and prompt .
Genre:
We pick genres from posts in the Genre topic in this folder . Then the contest will be to write from the genre we pick .
To enter a genre for choosing, simply post it in the genre topic . All genres posted will be considered for the contest. Try not to post repeats !
To enter a contest, post your entry in the Weekly Genre Contest topic under the newest contest (or entries).
Prompt:
It works the same way, but instead with prompts . We pick prompts from posts in the prompt topic in this folder . Then the contest will be to write from the prompt we pick.
To enter a prompt for choosing, simply post it in the prompt topic .
To enter a contest, post your entry in the Weekly Prompt Contest topic under the newest contest (or entries).

There will be two contests every week, Prompt and Genre .

How Do I Know If I Win?-
For Genre and Prompt: The winner of the last contests will be announced in the newer ones, the news topic under the information center folder, and in emails.
For Open: The winner will be announced in polls, emails, and in the news topic .

THANKS FOR READING!
I hope that you'll participate and create contests rather than skip this long introduction :)

xoxo,
The MODs
P.S. if you have questions post them below ! The topics mentioned above will soon be created .

Eli | 55 comments This seems interesting. I'm not sure how many of these I'll enter, but I can try for one or two. Quick question though, when do contests officially start? Next week? In two weeks? Or have they already started and people can now make an open contest right now?

Well, I was worried that no one would actually read through the whole thing.
I believe the contests will start in at least a week, but I will ask Pie Hi and get back to you as soon as I can !

Eli | 55 comments Cool. Thanks! I already have an idea for my own open contest, so this should be interesting.

Don't forget that if you make an open contest, you have the opportunity to give some word dollars (imaginary) to the winner! Not too many, please.

Oh yes, I forgot about that :)
