Introduce Yourself

My ideal day would be either lazing on the beach reading and drinking iced tea or eating ice-cream or those rainy days when you can snuggle in bed with a cup of hot chocolate or some popcorns and bing watching my shows/reading.
What was the first book you've read?

I am Tawny and I am a wife with a two year old son and another one on the way! I have read extensively my whole life and some of my fondest memories are being in certain places reading a good book. I like to read all genres just depends on what mood I am in but definitely have a fondness for YA, paranormal, and good ol' romance.
The first book I ever read was Little House on the Prairie and that was the first series that I ever devoured as well.
What was the last great book that you read?

The first books I remember reading are Geronimo Stilton (blast to the past) but the first books to get me into reading were the Percy Jackson books.
Who is your #1 OTP?

My name is Jessica. I'm a graphic designer, Photographer and bookworm in Canada. I actually created the picture for this group. I love rainy days, big cups of tea and YA books. The best book I've read this year is ACOMAF and have had the biggest book hangover from it. I'm hoping this group will get me out of any slumps!

My name is Sandra. I'm from the Netherlands and currently working at Claire's Accessories. When I'm not reading I love to watch TV shows or a movie and listen to music, at the moment I'm really into Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and Twenty One Pilots.
Autumn is my favorite season and I love to be curled up with a book and a big cup of tea on a rainy day.
My #1 OTP is Feyre and Rhysand. But I also love Juliette and Warner, and Penryn and Raffe.
What's your favorite read of 2016 so far?

My name is Chloe and I'm about to start year 12 at school in September. I'm quite a girly girl apart from I'm not really into hair, nails and make up like other really girly girls are though (I like pink and wearing dresses). I obviously love books, or I wouldn't be here. I love listening to music also and my favourite artists consist of One Direction, Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Demi Lovato. Also I'm into really depressive books aha!
My favourite read of 2016 so far is Pieces of You by Ella Harper.
What book has most influenced/affected your life so far?

My name is Jaimi, I'm 21 and from northern Canada. I returned home after spending 5 and a half months abroad in Australia and Japan, seeing the world and making new friends. ^^ I love reading, writing, drawing and music!
The book(s) that has most influenced my life so far would be the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Most influential book is a tough one...id have to go with Little Women because it introduced my love of reading and escaping to different places and times.
What book series left / leaves you wanting more the most?

Favorite genres are Fantasy(tho I've yet to read 3 books of ToG series, LOL good job Madiha) , Romance , Horror. I'm a hugeeeee horror movie buff. If Scream movie was real life I would be the one to survive coz by now I know all the cliche :D
Currently reading - ACOMAF (AND DYING!!! COZ OMG OTP <3)
Most influential book..Harry Potter
Other Interest - Painting, Photography, Dan & Phil (PHAN trash),All the booktubers
Book series that left me wanting more?? The first thing that came in my mind is the Mara Dyer series,The first two book are A+ ,the third one on the other hand I read half and couldn't finish so I had to DNF it! Also I've heard that there is no clear ending so that's disappointing coz the first two books are my fav <3
Which all booktubers do you watch?

I'm pretty active on Goodreads, but sometimes I get really busy so I may seem to go on hiatus once in a while.
Something I like to do other than read is baking and writing.
I'm open to pretty much all genre's of books (though I'm not keen on reading any horror) and I listen to a wide variety of music (this includes Coldplay, Simple Plan, Sleeping with Sirens, Bright eyes, and much more)
The booktubers I watch are...Ariel Bissett, Katytastic, polandbananasBOOKS, Tashapolis, and jessethereader.
(not sure if this has to be book related) what's one of the best things you've ever eaten?

I go by Ren and I'm from the US. My favorite genres are fantasy and sci-fi! Besides reading, I enjoy playing the piano and cello, and drawing.
^^ I've eaten a lot of delicious things, but right now the only thing that's coming to mind is a creme brulee I once had in Montreal!
What are your favorite genres?

I love reading, listening to music and just going outdoors for picnics with family
My favourite genre would have to be historical fiction, and this was thanks to Kate Morton
I also love young adult and fantasy novels
What fictional world would you like to live in?

All of them of course (well, except for Westeros) - But if I had to choose only one I'd have to go with the wizarding world.
What book character would you love to swap lives with?

I would love to swap lives with Hermione Granger. I just love the wizarding world and Herminone has been my favourite fictional character since I was a child.
Have you ever had to attend "Dress up as your favourite book character" at school? If yes, who did you dress up as? And if no, who would've you dressed up as?

I'm Jodie. I'm 26 and I live in rural Norfolk, UK in a cute little house with my boyfriend and adorable dog Melon.
I studied Art at University and am now a Librarian and studying towards a Masters degree in Library Science.
I enjoy reading (obviously), writing, baking, playing video games and growing vegetables and fruit in my garden :) I also make jewellery which I sell on Etsy under the name Enclosed Earth, and have just started my blog back up again (yay!) HERE
When I was younger we had to dress up at school for World Book Day and I very excitedly went as Mildred from The Worst Witch. I used to devour those books when I was young! Reading until late at night under my duvet with a torch. I liked the idea that someone else was just as clumsy as me :)
Who is your most hated book villain?

I like to type in run-on sentences with very little punctuation when I'm thinking faster than my fingers can move! Apart from reading, I also like music, occasionally cross-stitch and play sports like ultimate frisbee and badminton :D
I'm not too sure if this is really my most hated villain because I can't recall every villain I've ever read about, but the first character that comes to mind is (somewhat predictably) Dolores Umbridge. *shudders* I hated that woman.
Next person: how tall are you? (or is this a sensitive question HAHA)

Dont worry, Joy, height is not a sensitive question for me! ^_^ I'm 4'10" - 147 cm for those metric users out there! <3 My friends call me "Fun sized" because there is no such thing as "short" in my vocabulary.
Next question: what film adaptation of a book were you most disappointed by?

I was most disappointed by the film adaptation of HP and the Goblet of Fire. Specifically Michael Gambon's portrayal of Dumbledore (I'm sorry, Mr. Gambon, did you even read the books??)
What's your favorite non-fiction book?

It's nice to be a part of this group and hope to know y'all so much better in the future!!

What is your go-to book when you are recommending books to others?

I LOVE reading. My favourite genres are fantasy, historical and romance.
My favourite tv-shows are The Walking Dead and Stranger Things. Favourite movie: Before Sunrise.
I also love music. My favourite singers/bands are Marina and the Diamonds, Enya, Adele, Pentatonix, ABBA, and Enigma. (Yeah, I love disco/new age music :P )
I'm a passionate environmentalist, animals rights activist, vegan, and if there is any animal mistreatment in a book, I will not like the book at all.
My go-to book to recommend to others will always be Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. I recommend it even if you don't enjoy fantasy. I still think you will like it.
Dear next person, what book has changed the way you look at the world?

I would have to say the book/series that changed the way I look at the world (there are so many!) is the Addicted/Calloway Sisters series by Krista and Becca Ritchie. Not only are the characters and their relationships amazing, they touch on so many important issues. (The characters also convinced me to finally read HP which is another series that changed the way I look at the world).
Question for the next person: what book/genre do you read when you're feeling down?

The that changes the way I look to the world I think it's All The Bright Places.
Wil, every single book changes something on me, or makes me discover something that it was hiding inside me.
What is the book that you talk about it all the time ?

My favorite genre is Fantasy, but I delve into many other genres as well. Lately I have been really into graphic novels. I have two kitties that are my life and a husband that is my best friend.
The first series that really turned me into a crazy reader was Harry Potter and that is the series that I am usually talking about...a lot...lol it's Harry Potter all the time.
Which do you prefer? Physical books or E-books??

In the land of film and TV, I am currently binge watching The 100, impatiently awaiting the return of The Originals, and can pretty much be guaranteed to see every fantasy/scifi adaptation made. Also, GoT, of course.
And yay, a great question I get! I am a total physical book snob. I have not yet given in to the call of an e-reader, though I travel frequently and the valuable suitcase real estate has been putting up quite the argument.
I know this question was already asked, but I'd like to know some more favorite books of the year so far!

I'm also addicted to free ebooks because, you know, they're books that you get for free. As a result I have more than a 140 currently on my computer and have read only about twenty-five of them. But I have found some that I really enjoyed, so...no regrets? I just hope I get around to reading all of them eventually.
As for my favorite books of the year so far, I've enjoyed quite a few. My top books have probably been Someone Else's Fairytale by E.M. Tippetts, Walk On Earth A Stranger by Rae Carson, Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry, Raven Song by I.A. Ashcroft, Quite Contrary by Richard Roberts, and a Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. I've also been enjoying the Unwind series by Neal Schusterman lately. Sorry for the super long list...I guess I've just had pretty good luck with books this year.
My question for anyone who chooses to take it is: What book did you read this year that was the least like what you expected? In a good way or a bad way, either one.

My major genres have to be general fantasy, urban fantasy (Kate Daniels series) and young adult and lately increasingly non fiction stuff like Quiet (Susan Cain) and Self Compassion (Kristen Neff). Honestly, I'd read pretty much anything. Also, for the past two years I've been constantly obsessed with Percy Jackson!
My favourite bands: Dire Straits (esp. Mark Knopfler), Twenty-øne Piløts, Arctic Monkeys, Def Leppard, U2, Runrig and The Proclaimers to name a few.
To answer Dannica's question I'll cheat a little and mention two books. From 2015: The Blood of Olympus by Rock Riordan: all nine books leading up the this colossal finally disappointed me towards the end concerning the battle with a certain *ahem* deity (to spare you spoilers), and frankly it was anticlimactic, to what is otherwise a fantastic series.
From 2016: A Storm Of Swords (GoT - amazing stuff). Now that was a hell of a book. That Martin guy sure knows how to rip your beating heart from your heaving chest. Two words: unexpected deaths. Not cool. And I was mind blown with the progress of the plot.
And I'll take the liberty to answer someone else's question: it was a gross injustice with that poor excuse of a film adaptation of Percy Jackson, no fault to the actors whom apparently didn't read the books. It's like the Avatar: Last Air Bender, almost unmentionable due to the pain it continues to inflict.
I've yapped quite enough, so my question to whoever wants to answer is ... what book did you find yourself throwing across the room or out of the window (gasps) and why?

My name is J.Z.N. McCauley. You can call me JZN for short :) I'm a fantasy author. I currently write new adult, but plan to branch out into other genres soon. I'm also in love with singing and art. I enjoy movies and TV shows too. Some of my favorite TV shows are Gilmore Girls, The New Girl, Star Trek, old Dr. Who, and Sherlock. I like specific manga and anime as well. I'm comfortable being a nerd, haha.
My answer to Devina's question: I didn't have that experience this year, thankfully! I can't say I ever did that honestly. Many I found boring and would put aside after I couldn't take it anymore. But I threw none. I suppose that's just because of my OCD and not wanting to destroy books, lol!
My question to the next person: Where is your favorite/most comfortable spot to read?

My answer to the previous question: I love reading in my bed the most, and I am very creative with my reading positions.
Next question: What is your absolute favorite book?

My absolute favorite book is A Court of Mist and Fury. I don't know why, but since I started A Court of Thorns and Roses I fell in love with the story and the characters. When I read ACOMAF, from the first page I knew this book would become my favorite one of all the books. Rhysand is bae...just saying.
Have you ever met your favorite writer/author? How was it?

My question: What is a character with who you share favorite hobby? :)
Im really happy to be in this group and I hope we will all have a great time together! :)

Um, I'm happiest in my little reading nook, which consists of a cushy leather chair (big enough for two), a fuzzy blanket, and a reading light made out of an old beauty shop heating lamp. Like most of you, I'm sure, I could spend all day everyday in a library or at Barnes and Noble. It's like popping an instant happy pill. I just completely bliss out.
To answer the question above, I share a love of knitting with Miss Marple. I'm not mad about it.
My question: Who is your biggest book crush, male or female, of all time?

To answer the question above, I'd have to say Will Herondale. That boy is everything to me. (Close second would be Tod Hudson, from the lesser known Soul Screamers series. SO GOOD)
My question: If you could have one fictional character be your BFF in real life, who would you choose?

I would love to have Karou from Daughter of Smoke and Bone as my BFF.
My question for the next person: what is the last book you read that you didn't want to end?

The last book I read that I never wanted it to end was The Falconer by Elizabeth May :)
My question do the next person has to be, what book got your reading obsession started??

I'm Brendan, living in sunny Brisbane, Australia. I am a screenwriter and huge science fiction fan. My very first book was Cat and Mouse by James Patterson, I had just watched Kiss the Girls with Morgan Freeman and was mentioning that I had enjoyed that. She explained that the book was darker and better but suggested I just read the latest book in the series as it was a sequel. I read that entire book the next day. I now despise James Patterson for the books he writes but I still remember the early books in the Alex Cross series as being pretty good. I now only read topics that are interesting like Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance, Seveness by Neal Stephenson and the list continues to grow thanks to all the goodreads community.
How many books have you read this year?

PD: Thank you so much for joining me in this group

I'm Aimee, living in Richardson, TX. I fell in love with books while I was in college, obtaining my arts degree. I'm an aspiring author, working on a book series, and I read anything I can get my hands on.
Answer for last question asked: I've read 18 books so far this year, and I have a goal to read 24 by the end of this year.
Question for next person: how do you choose what book to read? (The cover, reviews, recommendations, reading the synopsis)

I'm 24 years old and from Southern Germany.
I absolutely love reading, unfortunately I don't have always the time to.
I love reading nearly all genres. Except Sci-Fi.
Currently I'm reading the third part of a trilogy from a German author - Julia Adrian
What are you currently reading?

My name is Jeraca, I'm 28, and I'm a Reference Librarian at a public library. I have also worked in an academic library, and was the Young Adult librarian at my previous library job, so I love YA novels with a passion! I'm also a fan of New Adult novels and some adult fiction books, but mainly just YA and NA!
Besides reading, I also like to collect movies and binge watch TV shows. I won't list the shows that I've watched from start to finish, because that would take all day, but the shows I'm currently watching now are "How I Met Your Mother", "Criminal Minds", "Zoo", and "Scrubs".
I am currently reading "Unhinged" by A.G. Howard - the second on the Alice in Wonderland spin-off series. I'm really enjoying it and have way too many other novels on my TBR list that I have bought, but just haven't had time to read them yet.
Question for the next person: How do you choose what book to read? (The cover, reviews, recommendations, reading the synopsis, etc.)

My name is Ran. I'm 27. I'm also a reference librarian at a public library. (I feel like Jeraca and I already have a lot in common.) I am usually found nose deep in historical research and nonfiction. I'm not a big music, television, or movie buff.
I usually choose my next book from the footnotes of the current book I'm working on finishing. I read professional journals to get a feel for the content, professional reviews in academic journals to get an idea of where the book fits in the field, and of course, look for reviews and suggestions from my GR friends for nonacademic reads (graphic novels!).
What was the last book you read that changed your view of the world?

Troye Sivan is my biggest obsession next to reading . I love watching Game of Thrones and of course Jon Snow!
The last book that changed my view of the world was A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseni because it took me to another world and left me breathless.
What is a book you had to read in school that you absolutely loved?? (mines the odyssey)

I'm currently reading "Confessions of a shopaholic" and currently watching "izombie" on Netflix. Up next on my TBR is "Ready Player one"
A book that I read in high school and loved? Dracula! I love spooky halloween-ish stuff. I read it in my senior year and enjoyed it.
What is a book the first book or book series that you were obsessed with? (Mine was Burned by Ellen Hopkins)

Besides my obvious love (and obsession *hides behind hands) with books, I also love writing, drawing, ballet dancing and music. My favourite artist (at the moment because it keeps changing haha) Lana Del Rey, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco and Hozier :) I love all kinds of music and books and I love it even more when I listen to music and read at the same time!
The first book series that I obsessed over was twilight but the first series that kept me into reading and made me obsess about fictional boys was the Mortal Instruments :D
And my question! What song would make an amazing book or would you like to be turned into a book?

Love books (currently cannot wait for Empire of Storms), movies (2005 Pride and Prejudice is my cinematography aesthetic), music (alternating between Hamilton and Crazy Ex Girlfriend soundtrack), cooking (pasta for days), and binge watching Netflix (just finished Crazy Ex Girlfriend and How to Get Away with Murder - both excellent)
I would love a song inspired by Throne of Glass series or Pride and Prejudice. I'm sure there's something out there already. But yeah those are my picks.
What's the best book-to-movie adaptation you've ever seen?
Books mentioned in this topic
Crooked Kingdom (other topics)Authors mentioned in this topic
Patrick Rothfuss (other topics)Juliet Marillier (other topics)
Jacqueline Carey (other topics)
My name is Anastasia Carvalhais and I am the moderator of this group. I am a sophomore in high school and when I'm not reading I am listening to music. My favorite bands and artists are Panic! at the Disco, Twenty Øne Piløts, The 1975, Troye Sivan, and Melanie Martinez.
What does your ideal day consist of?
