Chava | 2788 comments This is the nominations thread for Book of the Month for October 2016.

Please be aware of the following rules:
1) Authors aren't allowed to nominate their own books and your post will be deleted (feel free to post in the authors' threads on our site) and you might be banned from the site!
2) 1 book suggestion/nomination per person
3) First come, first serve. So whoever gets their nomination for a book in first, gets dibs on that book
4) A book in a series is fine
5) Please be mindful that recent books might not be readily available (yet) and be mindful that your suggestion is available in multiple formats. Please do NOT suggest books that haven't been published yet.
6) Please check that a book hasn't already been read by checking our unread section of the bookshelf (it's not a 100%, I'm working on it).
7) The nominators of the top 3 voted books agree to lead the discussion thread for the month on their nominated book.

As you might have noticed, I have taken out the 2 month rule for new members. We haven't had trolls for a while and I don't want to limit new members from joining in.

Any questions, either PM me or post a message on the thread.
The nominations will run until the 16th of September 2016 and for voting to commence soon after via a poll.

Simona | 38 comments I nominate I See You by Clare Mackintosh I See You by Clare Mackintosh .
Clare is the international bestselling author of I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh .

"If it's just the two of you,
Just you and whoever's behind you,
Whoever is chasing you,
How fast could you run then? It doesn't matter how fast. Because there's always someone who can run faster." I See You

It is true I have read kindle edition. I checked on amazon before nomination and I saw it was available in other formats .

I am from Romania. I order books from UK, US etc. In my country some books won't be publish.
From US perspective, this book will be publish next year and right now paperback edition can be only ordered. This is an international group and it is hard to know if a book will be publish in US, Australia etc. Kindle edition (not only) is available everywhere, but some people love paperback edition.
So, in the future should I focus on books published in US? If paperback edition is there (published), I can nominate it and if it is not, I should avoid it.

Robert Davis (robert_davis) Simona, I would suggest you choose books that are already published and readily available in your country. A book does not need to be new or recent. Classic and older books are fine to nominate. Just as long as they are easy to get a copy of.

Perhaps Chava will have more advice for you.

message 9: by Icewineanne (new)

Icewineanne | 725 comments There are just too many books released each year to purchase all of them. Unless it is a unique book that includes beautiful artwork or maps, I usually borrow the book from my local library.

message 10: by Robert (new)

Robert Davis (robert_davis) Agreed, I volunteer at my local library and think it is the greatest public resource available to us.

Chava must include this in group rules (nominations should be available in your local libraries - free) . Before nomination, we should check your local library as well. Clare's book can be bought in Canada, US and other countries. As I understood, you can not borrow it from your local library.
I can not deny that one reason of nomination new releases is that at the end of the year we have Goodreads Awards and I am interested of it.

Icewineanne | 725 comments I checked with the local bookstores here, but unfortunately it will not available in stores either until Feb 21/17.

It seems at the moment this book can be bought online (www.amazon.com or www.bookdepository.com ). See below Linda's answer:

It is not mandatory to have a group read this year. You can nominate it next year when it will be available in your local libraries.
