Ok! We're ON! Due to some technical problems we made a lot of discussion threads, but this should be the only one left for the Final discussion.
So, what did you guys think?
So, what did you guys think?
Yay! We finally got there hahaha... Okay so here are my thoughts about the book -
I gave TUE four stars just because it dragged on longer than it needed to. There were some (what seemed like) unnecessary scenes in it, do you guys feel the same way?
Nevertheless I love Andie, she is such a level headed character and her story is really relatable, especially concerning her friendships and her family problems.
Andies relationship with her father is one of my favourites, especially when they go on the scavenger hunt. I feel like it develops so beautifully and quite realistically too. I know it's so relatable for many people with over working parents.
I'm also really happy that Bri and Toby's story ended the way it did. I'm not sure many people feel the same way but I definitely do, mostly because if I were in Toby's situation I'd be furious. Dating your best friends crush is a big no in my books. However it also sucks for Bri because she really likes him and most best friends should be really happy for them. It's a difficult situation but I think Bri and Toby taking a break from each other was the best decision.
Also, I highly dislike Wyatt... Like, I can hardly pronounce his name correctly (it always sounds like 'we at' in my head ☹) , can you get any worse?
So those are my general thoughts about the book, what do you guys think? Do you agree or disagree?
I agree with you on Toby and Bri, Tahlia! They were like two crazy twins, but somewhere along the way Toby ended up as the "clown" in the group - the hopeless romantic and so on. That's never a healthy place to be for too long.
Now, after reading the book a while ago, i feel like toby should have just gotten over Wyatt. I mean, it just a guy, and she just had a crush in him! I just thought that the whole Wyatt thing was a bit petty. At first I didn't like Andie, but then she really grew on me! I liked the way that just because she didn't get het internship, it didn't mean that she was just going to lounge around the house all summer!
Sorry to be negative, don't get me wrong, I like the book a lot, its just i found it a bit cliché that Clarke was a famous writer. I understand that EVERYTHING is meant to be UNEXPECTED, but I just found it hard to imagine it all happening in real life? Did anybody else think this?
I liked the friendship between the girls and the relationship between Andie and her father. I did not like how Bri and Toby split up over a boy in the end, but I agree with you Janne, their relationship did not seem quite healthy. I actually felt bad for Toby at times during the story. I felt like she was made fun of for the person she was? I think the ending was a little too fastpaced, I feel like there was some stuff that still needed to be sorted out. But I did enjoy the book and it was a great summer read. I gave it 3 stars and I thought it was fine.
I gave this book a three star rating. And I 100% agree Tahlia, the book stretched on and on WAY longer than it needed. It could have easily been a 300-400 page book instead of a 600 page book. Also Wyatt, Wyatt, Wyatt
Omg yes! He just left at the end of summer! He didn't even try to mend the relationships that he destroyed.
I think we never got to know Wyatt. He was just there because Toby had a crush on him.
The ending was way too short! So many unanswered questions!
I'm still wondering how Andie and Clark sorted out everything. She was really mean to him, and how would Clark take the fact that she fooled around with another guy?

Yeah we really didn't get to know Wyatt. I think he was there just so there could be some sort of problem with the friend group.I also think Clark forgave Andie WAYYY to easily. Clark deserved better. He was such a sweet cinnamon roll.
And I did not like wyatt. Then again, i agree with Janne, we never really got to know him, though he was still an idiot for leaving after the summer
yeah it was all wrapped up a little too nicely in the end. Andie was quite mean (and actually was that multiple times?) towards Clark, but it didn't seem like the Topher-Thing mattered.. Am I the only one that was surprised that no drama happened between Andie and Topher? I was expecting a scanda at some pointl! xD
I agree Kayla!! Clark forgave her as soon As she walked into the book signing I swear! Like, when she asked her 'question' it was literally 'does it have to end this way?' There was no apology or anything
I agree with you, i thought some drama would happen between Topher and Andie! And I think that the bookshop scene should have been longer, making Andie apologise more
When Topher called and warned Andie I was SO SURE he was getting revenge for being stood up! I was like "NO ANDIE! It's a trick!" And then it wasn't, and I realized I'd based my assumptions of Topher on what Andie's friends thought about him - and they didn't really know him at all. I actually think he's an ok guy underneath all the slick layers.
what?! that's right! She did not say sorry! And I liked Topher too, I guess I had just imagined something more or bigger to happen between the two of them.
