Amazon has mentioned it.I don't know what I would have read if I didn't stumble across the Honorverse a few years ago. I keep trying to find series as good. My newest hope is Jack Campbell's Lost Fleet series
@Brad, Lost Fleet is OK, but the author seems to assume you haven't read all the previous books and frequently repeats information you already know. If you get past that, it's pretty good. The first snippet of Shadow of Victory is up on the Weber forums: http://forums.davidweber.net/viewtopi... ...

Yes, I saw the listing on Amazon. It's available for pre-order in hardback only. But I doubt it will be published on November 1.
Brad, I read the first five or so books of the Lost Fleet series, but lost interest. It was nowhere near as good as Honorverse. Not nearly as dense or layered or complex or thoughtful. It's just an okay adventure.

From the description on Amazon it sounds like it's just another in the series about the Frontier worlds and Mesa's continued machinations. I'll read it when it comes out, but I'm really getting impatient for something more substantial.
I just heard that the earc for shadows of victory is up. I'm not one to read earc, but if you're anxious to find out what happens, go for it!

I read and loved the Honor Harrington series, and also read a few of the Lost Fleet (it didn't compare). However, lately I've been reading The Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold, and it's excellent! The tone is very much the same as David Weber's series, except without the space battle play-by-plays.
It's the only series I've read that I would put in the same category as the Honor Harrington series.
I highly enjoy the Miles Vorkosigan series (but the last book was a disaster). Space Opera, not military sci-fi, but probably the best space opera series I've ever read.
A Call to Vengeance, the third in the Manticore Ascendant series, is now available for preorder on Amazon, but only in hardcover. It's due out in March.

Seriously - this is possibly the worst thing that David Weber has written so far. The overwhelming majority or it simply rehashes needless periphery action in the Talbot sector; none of which adds anything meaningful to progressing the over-all story arc. Very little contains any of the main characters or their plot lines.

It was a good way to ease back into the story after such a long hiatus and I don't necessarily mind rehashing events from different perspectives... on the other hand (wink), I had no clue what was going on in the first half of the book and didn't really care about most of these people with funny names.
I'd give the first half one star using the goodreads scale, and the second half three (maybe 2.5 rounding up), so it's definitely not very good, and it probably is the worst honor book (the last several are all trying hard for this title), but the fact that it got better gives me a tiny flicker of hope.
It very much gave me the impression that it was made up mostly of stuff cut from earlier books by the editors. On top of that, it starts all the way back in Shadow of Saganami, and by the end only advances the overall storyline by a day or two. Only the final chapter has anything that notably affects the overall Honorverse storyline. And man, those names made it just painful to read. You can only have so many characters whose names are just a bunch of consonants sneezed onto the page before they all start blurring together.
The eArc of A Call to Vengeance is available at Baen.com. Baen eArcs are usually pretty clean, i.e. not many errors, but they cost $15. Sometimes it's worth it to me, sometimes not. I think I'll wait until this comes out in May.

The eArc of Uncompromising Honor is available now at baen.com. It's long. 768 pages in the hardback, according to Amazon. Mixed reviews on Baen, but only a few.
I finished the book. It was definitely worth reading. Has a good bit of exciting action, but is not without problems. Here is my review.
A Call to Insurrection, Book 4 of the Manticore Rising series, will be published February 1, 2022 and is available for preorder from Amazon. The eARC is available now from Baen, but of course, it costs $15, which is ridiculous, but I am so hungry for something from the Honorverse, I decided to go ahead and pay it. I'll let you know what I think. The first few chapters promise lots of space battles.
