Well, summer is coming to an end for half of the planet.

What do you plan to read in September?

I can tell there is no way I will finish my current book this month so for now I plan to finish City of Endless Night by Milo Hastings and then I will most likely move on to my most recent request on Netgalley, The Girl from the Sea by Shalini Boland .

I can't really find anything from what I have requested earlier that I would like to read...

Melaslithos | 1645 comments My plans for this month:

How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran The Vegetarian by Han Kang Le restaurant de l'amour retrouvé by Ito Ogawa Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell Half the Sky Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide by Nicholas D. Kristof Season of Migration to the North by Tayeb Salih

Dune was really interesting. I didn't like the following books in that series as much.

message 5: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I read the entire Dune series that was written by Frank Herbert, but didn't care for those continued by his son. To this day Dune is one of my favorites and a go-to when I can't decide on a new book.

message 6: by Karen M (new)

Karen M I'm another fan of Dune. I did a re-read in 2015 and read Dune Messiah as well. I have Children of Dune sitting on the shelf but after the way Messiah ended I kind of lost heart.

I'm reading The Life and Times of Persimmon Wilson, so I hope to finish that in Sept and also read The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America, Hosanna, Time and Regret and No Farm, No Foul.

The first is by far the best and a perfect stand-alone for those who aren't interested in a series.

I just had my request for When She Was Bad by Tammy Cohen in Netgalley approved so I am hoping I can squeeze it in this month!

Anita (neet413) | 44 comments Currently about 100 pages into Conspiracies (Repairman Jack, #3) by F. Paul Wilson , love me some Repairman Jack! Then I have a couple of Bentley Little books on my nightstand, I'll probably go with Dominion by Bentley Little .

You are very lucky, I got almost my requests all rejected...

I just book Dune at a discount price, didn't know there were so many... nice!

Oh I had many rejected as well, Sorobai, to the point I was not even expecting any of my requests to be approved. This one came as a total surprise.

I think I will read The Tone Poet by Mark Rickert next. It has been sitting on my Netgalley shelf for far too long and it seems to be one of the few that is not sci-fi. Gosh, I regret requesting so many of those books.

I will most likely read the one I mentioned before after this one.

Melaslithos | 1645 comments It's time for a little wrap!

This month, I kept to the plan for most of it, then deviated quite a little (mainly, I read less the second half of this month). Here is what I read:

How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran The Vegetarian by Han Kang Le restaurant de l'amour retrouvé by Ito Ogawa The Magpie Bridge by Liu Hong Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell

Very nice!
I actually read five books as well. I had a week off work which helped a lot.

message 15: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I read Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? Selected Early Stories by Joyce Carol Oates Insomnia by Stephen King Jaws by Peter Benchley Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two (Harry Potter, #8) by J.K. Rowling Dexter Is Dead (Dexter, #8) by Jeff Lindsay The Body by Stephen King Carry On by Rainbow Rowell The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood and 2BRO2B by Kurt Vonnegut . I finished Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke , but I actually started it years ago, so it shouldn't count.

Oh my gosh Kandice, what a streak! So cool!

I absolutely love Insomnia, hope you had a good time with that one-

By the way the books I read are posted here: https://anaslair.wordpress.com/2016/1...

I was pleasantly surprised by several, not so much by a couple others.

Boy, I wish I had another week off work this month :)

message 17: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I read Insomnia when it was first released and it may have been the only book by him I had never reread. I didn't like it very much the first time, but this time I loved it!

Yes, I recall reading your review and saying you hadn't liked it much, I was hoping this time would be different, glad you enjoyed it!
