I'm trying to figure out how to put the challenge at the top of the group, but so far, no luck. When I do, I'll be able to post the challenge how I want to! lol...
I didn't even know that was a movie, but I'll avoid it :)

Do people want to read any book that has a movie coming out (new movies) or keep it strictly contemporary ya (including ones made into movies in the past)?
I'm a new member. although you asked this question months ago I wouldn't mind reading contemporary ya with movies that have already been made. It would be easier to get my hands on the book and movie. Also, a lot of the books i've been reading lately had/have movies so it would be nice to discuss with others about them
nvm i found the poll...not many people voted.will there be another poll to chose these book to movies or will you just chose them or make a discussion for people to post books they are interested in
If there are several movies from books in a month, we may have a poll or just have a thread for each book. Usually, there aren't many movies based on books coming out in any one month, so just participate in the ones you are interested in.
I'm sorry I kind of let this challenge slide. I think it's so much fun! Anyway, I've added all the books being made into movies for 2015 (according to Popsugar) that have a release date set. So they are on our to-read shelf. We can discuss every month. Pick one if you want, or read them both if there are 2.

- The best book to movie adaptation I've ever seen. I also adore the book.
You may have heard that Fallen by Kate Lauren is being made into a movie. They wrapped filming last fall and it was scheduled to be released July 2015. They must not have been happy as they made some changes this spring. There is no release date at this time but they still have the go ahead so it's just a matter of time.Jeremy Irvine was cast as Daniel here's an interview from March https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JX8fL...
Take a look at his script cover...it's pretty cool https://instagram.com/p/2TZuZSHBxT/

Thanks JoAnne! It looks like it's coming out Jan. 2016 so I'll add it to our TBR once it gets closer.

Thanks Alaina Paper Towns is on our TBR list for July. The movie comes out July 24. You can watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFGiH...
It looks so gooood and the comments I've read here about the book have made me want to read it even more. I'll be reading it in July (if I can wait that long) so it's fresh in my mind for our discussion. The Discussion link will be up July 1. I hope you will join in.

Did you know 'Before I Fall' is going to be a film starring Zoey Deutch (Rose in Vampire Academy)?
IMDB is stating a 2016 release yet, but with no trailer and no poster yet..I'm guessing it will be very late 2016 or 2017.
Here's the description from IMDB: A high school student finds herself caught living what could be her last day on Earth over and over, until she gets things right.
Zoey Deutch with Lauren Oliver
Will you watch? Have you read the book?
I am putting the book on my list. The movie also stars Halston Sage who was in Paper Towns which was filmed (the school scenes) at my daughter's high school.
I read before I fall a long time back. It's awesome! and kinda sad too. This is cool! I`m def gonna watch the movie.
JoAnne I thought of you when I watched Paper Towns.
Erica - Fallen was a DNF. Then I tried it again and forced my way past the first half. Then I really enjoyed it and loved the series, except the ending really upset me, but I guess that was their choice. I remember we both listened to Unforgiven.
So there's still no trailer for Fallen. If it's to be released this year, let alone September, there should be a trailer by now. The film wrapped in 2014 and went through edits and some do over filming in Spring 2015. It might go straight to DVD?? I'm not sure what the hold up is. I will keep you posted.

Before I Fall news: Production ended in late 2015.
Here's an article, date May 13, 2016, from Deadline (a Hollywood and media news site.)
Open Road closed a deal last night in Cannes for U.S. rights to Before I Fall, the Ry Russo-Young-directed adaptation of the 2010 Lauren Oliver bestselling YA novel. Open Road committed to a wide release of 2000 screens and won the film, which screened here for U.S. and international buyers. UTA Independent Film Group brokered the sale and Good Universe is selling international here, an effort that should be helped by this deal. The title was a bit under the radar compared to some others, but it is a branded YA novel with a comparable youthful following of Perks of Being a Wallflower and If I Stay. The film stars Zoey Deutch, Halston Sage, Kian Lawley, Logan Miller, Cynthy Wu, Elena Kampouris, Medalion Rahimi, and Jennifer Beals. The script by Maria Maggenti made the Black List, with revisions by Beyond the Lights’ Gina Prince-Bythewood. Brian Robbins, Matt Kaplan, and Jon Shestack produced it. It is the first wide release picture for Awesomeness Films.
I still can't find a release date. Hopefully it will be 2017 and not 18.

I've had BeforeI fall on my TBR list for a while so I'll try to read it before the movie comes out.I loved Paper Towns the book & the movie was pretty good, I was just happy they stuck to the material. I just watched The Duff & decided to read the book cause it was funny, but the book was like a completely different story all together!

Yeah, the Duff movie was nothing like the book. I liked them both.

Julianna Margulies is in negotiations to join Richard Gere, Walton Goggins, Peter Dinklage and Bradley Whitford to film Three Christs. It's an indie film, currently scheduled to be released in 2018. Filming starts in mid July in NYC.
The film is based on The Three Christs of Ypsilanti: A psychological Study by Milton Rokeach
I don't believe this book is well known, but the description sounds fascinating.
Here's the book description from Goodreads: On July 1, 1959, at Ypsilanti State Hospital in Michigan, the social psychologist Milton Rokeach brought together three paranoid schizophrenics: Clyde Benson, an elderly farmer and alcoholic; Joseph Cassel, a failed writer who was institutionalized after increasingly violent behavior toward his family; and Leon Gabor, a college dropout and veteran of World War II.
The men had one thing in common: each believed himself to be Jesus Christ. Their extraordinary meeting and the two years they spent in one another’s company serves as the basis for an investigation into the nature of human identity, belief, and delusion that is poignant, amusing, and at times disturbing. Displaying the sympathy and subtlety of a gifted novelist, Rokeach draws us into the lives of three troubled and profoundly different men who find themselves “confronted with the ultimate contradiction conceivable for human beings: more than one person claiming the same identity.”
Richard Gere will play the psychiatrist. Julianna Margulies would be playing his wife and former research assistant and secretary.

I removed Fallen from our 2016 TBR list (Books into Movies Challenge.) It is still listed by IMDB as a Sept. 2016 release date. I believe it's not being released in Sept. There isn't a movie poster nor a trailer. Both would be out by now. I visited the distribution company's website (http://lotusentertainment.com/) and it is still listed as one of their films as a current production. The film has been in post production since late 2014.
I'm wondering why if they are not happy with the film, they didn't just release straight to DVD? Plus I doubt there will be a sequel as it could be hard to get the cast back.
On a side note...I don't know if this is good or bad...they are the company producing Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck. It is still in pre-production so it hasn't been casted and we don't know if there is even a script.

Great movie news for fans of The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. Jennifer Yuh Nelson (Kung Fu Panda) has signed on to direct the film. With some good luck...it might move into pre-production by fall.
During pre-production the director makes sure everything is ready to shoot the film. Cast and crew are hired, the script is analyzed and changed if necessary, locations are selected, sets are built and the shooting schedule is planned.

Thanks!
I have yet to read "Darkest Minds", it's been on my TBR for a while now, as well as Fallen. Apparently, there's a trailer for the Fallen movie! It's really coming out this year.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-MRL...

Fallen wasn't released in theaters in the US. I did watch online. It wasn't bad, but not great. There was no chemistry no magic it fell flat.
