Evadeen (evadeenbrickwood) | 1 comments Not sure if you would this consider contemporary - these labels are a bit confusing to me - but my books are definitely not off-the-wall fantasy.
So here goes:
Hi, I'm Evadeen Brickwood. I write novels mostly about my experiences in foreign lands and interesting topics I research.
This is exactly what I did for the youth series "Remember the Future". I researched quantum physics and time trave, lost civilizations and extinct animals and plants and lost continents and how the climate may have been 12,000 years ago. But all that would be boring on its own, so a good part is fiction and fantasy and adventure. Three clever children travel to prehistory and experience it all for themselves.

The first book in the series was published in 2005 and then again in 2007 in South Africa.
It's about time travel, lost civilizations and adventures in prehistory.
I have since written more books in the series and if all goes well the books will be available as paperbacks on Amazon this year.

Children of the Moon by Evadeen Brickwood
Children of the Moon
was re-published as an e-book in 2013.
It was translated into German in 2014
Kinder des Mondes by Evadeen Brickwood
Kinder des Mondes
and
The Speaking Stone of Caradoc by Evadeen Brickwood
The Speaking Stone of Caradoc
was published in the same year.

If you would like to have a look, Children of the Moon is available as a free read on Wattpad until the end of April.
Let me know what you think.
Happy reading
Evadeen Brickwood

Jeffrey Westhoff | 1 comments Hello, everyone. My first YA novel is coming soon. It is a genre book, but it is definitely contemporary.

I grew up a James Bond fan, and my first novel - which will be published June 1 - reflects that obsession. In The Boy Who Knew Too Much by Jeffrey Westhoff The Boy Who Knew Too Much Milwaukee teenager and spy buff Brian Parker travels to Europe and lands in the middle of a deadly espionage conspiracy.

I live in the Chicago suburbs and have a background in newspapers, spending 25 years as a film critic. Like many writers with a background in newspapers, I no longer work at a newspaper and have been getting by as a freelance writer. When a friend suggested I write a teenage spy novel, I realized that was the one type of book I was most qualified to write. Right away, though, I knew I didn't want to write about a teenager in spy training or who has a father or uncle who is a spy. That's been done before, many times.

It occurred to me that no one had yet used the Hitchcock approach to a teenage spy story, taking a "civilian" and throwing him into a world of spies and criminals. The title "The Boy Who Knew Too Much" instantly popped into my head and I was running. Six Days of the Condor was a major inspiration at the start, and after the first few chapters I realized I was writing a modern version of Treasure Island with spies instead of pirates.

Feel free to become my Goodreads friend. If you want to learn more about me and my book, check out my website: www.jeffreywesthoff.com. "The Boy Who Knew Too Much" is coming June 1 from Intrigue Publishing. I am now working on my second novel, which is still a spy story but will be aimed at a younger audience.

Though I started out with contemporary YA (and that's my true love), I self-published a few fantasy novels for adults. I recently acquired an agent for my contemporary YA, so hopefully one day it will be published in the mainstream market.

Robert Krenzel (robert_krenzel) Alaina, I am reading The Smugglers Gambit by Sara Whitford; my daughter is near your age, and if you are anything like her I think you'll enjoy it. Happy reading!

L. Boddez (Bookappisodes) | 2 comments Hello! My name is Lisa and I am an author and very recently, online book publisher. My website/APP is http://www.bookappisodes.com. It's a new concept launching *fingers crossed* April 30th. We are just waiting for final approval from Apple for our APP (currently in Beta testing).

The premise is this: it's an interactive, social book experience. Authors post one chapter at a time, pose a question to readers - who then vote on their favorite option. The majority vote wins, and the authors must write that into the subsequent chapter.

The first book to be released is Montecito - a place where generous trust funds and secrets are plentiful. This dramatic series has many twists and turns, all determined by the readers themselves.

I am looking to connect with both readers and writers who find this new concept intriguing. Feel free to add me as a friend, and message anytime.

K. Velk | 1 comments Hi All - I'm new to this group but I've been around Goodreads for a year or two now, although I'll confess I'm still figuring the site out. Like everyone else on this thread I read and write. There's lots of contemporary YA that I love - and lots more over which I despair. As for Love - Neil Gaiman, Philip Pullman, Rebecca Stead, and lots of writers who are no longer contemporary though they certainly were loved by the young adults of their day (e.g. Dickens). Just waving hello tonight. Up, Back, and Away is my own big book (so far). Here's what it looks like:
