I just finished The Last One by Alexandra Oliva and loved it.
I also really enjoyed Arrowood by Laura McHugh.

Just finished We are All Made of Stars by Rowan Coleman.
If you liked JoJo Moyes, I think this book is so much better. You may cry. You've been warned.
Top of the list for this summer A Man Called Oveand Where'd You Go, Bernadette, which was on my "give us 5..." list; gave it to my sister.
biggest surprize The Search for Anne Perry. Idon't know where I was when this was in the news but I totally missed it even though I think I'd already delved into Pitt series. I even checked out the DVD of Heavenly Creatures.
Honorable mention to The Night Circus
Also filled 2 gaps in Flavia de Luce series and found myself puzzled by the high ratings of 2 I didn't love: A Little Life and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
While these books are not my all time favorites (even though I think the last book is pretty important) my personal favorites I read this summer are:Tripping Back Blue
One of these books where I really felt like I was inside the story.
Salt & Storm
Mostly because of the scenery, I love the ocean!
The Memory of Light
Made me think a lot and got some very important messages.
@Elaine: A Man Called Ove is also on my reading list. The Night Circus sounds pretty interesting...I might get this one.
My favorite beach read from this summer was Crazy Rich Asians. It's a fast-paced book, a very light and fun read. I added almost all of the books on my To-Read list that others recommended. Thanks!
I read Anthony Doerr's "All the Light We Cannot See" for our Afternoon Book Club and loved it!
I also enjoyed starting Kerry Greenwood's Phryne Fisher series in "The Cocaine Blues" as well as watching the Miss Fisher Mysteries.
Although hard to find in libraries and bookstores now, I found "Binstead's Safari" by Rachel Ingalls enchanting and oddly riveting.

I just finished Bunheads What a fun, light read that was. There is a little bit of romance in it but its mostly about the daily life of a professional ballet dancer in N.Y. I honestly didn't care so much about ballet before but this book made me really curious about it and I looked up some youtube videos..The author herself worked as a ballet dancer for 9 years which made for a very realistic read.

What was your favorite book of the summer? Did any book surprise you?
I really enjoyed the Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman and Lock In by John Scalzi.
I was surprised by Vinegar Girl as Taming of the Shrew is not one of my favorites but I really liked it.
