Classic Trash discussion

I cannot wait for others to start reading this book. I am completely stumped by it. It reads (to me, anyway) like a scifi hipster version of Sartre's No Exit. Am I just not getting it, or am I stupid?

The writing style of this book reminds me a little of Alfred Bester's The Stars My Destination. However, The Big Time is far more abstract, hip, beat generation, slangy, etc. than Bester's book. I am trying my best to understand it better.

I'm about halfway through this. I like the ideas in it, but the writing style is not particularly to my taste.
