Digital Fortress by Dan Brown; Buddy Read Starts 17 May 2014
I have no idea what's this book is about (haven't read the blurb and not going to ),I just know it's a mystery/thriller/suspense and I've read other Dan Brown books and loved them. And I got the PB for free so ...

I don't have my book with me.I was curious so I started reading it on Amazon preview .It has the first 4 chapters. It seems good so far.
I got this one at the used book store a couple of months ago. Challenges permitting, I will try to join in the buddy read.
I haven't started yet I will do in the next hour or so. Yay Lauren haven't read with both of you in ages.

Great. I will probably start it tomorrow :0)

Tut tut go to sleep so I can catch up.I've not been well all day so been sleeping. I don't have a clue where I am as I listened to a bit before I fell asleep and haven't looked in my book yet.

Is he the Cisec guy? I wondered why he came in as well and was about where the other guy was but they just mentioned it.
I know and he is stuck in another country on his own. Who was watching him as well?
Edit oh yep he is Phil
Every time they mention Digital Fortress this keeps playing in my head.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-swq...
I feel so sorry for David (view spoiler)and Gregg (view spoiler)
BTW The F*** off and die is cracking me up, I know that Davids misunderstood, I can tell exactly what he was trying to tell them.

I had a good night sleep, it seems you caught up!
Are you feeling better now?

I know! At times David seems clever and then he does something stupid or doesn't get an obvious clue!!
ShoSho wrote: "Lauren have you started?"Not yet. Have a couple of challenge books to get through first. Might take me a while but I'll chime in when I do :0)
Elishia wrote: "I don't know who to trust right now especially as more people get involved."How far are you?
Did you read the part with that girl in the airport?
I hope she doesn't get killed!
Yes him.I didn't get a notification for your last message.
I wish that David and Susan would learn to speak a bit faster and get their point across. (view spoiler).
Elishia wrote: "This book is messing with me i don't know who to trust or whats going on."I think that's the beauty of it! At first I thought it was too predictable , but now I'm thinking there's no way I can predict what's going to happen!Everyone's lying about something
I know Dan Browns very clever I was going through the same thing when I read The Lost Symbol.I've finished (view spoiler)
Lauren wrote: "Just started - another Dan Brown starting with a dead body, lol!"Yep another dead body and (view spoiler)
I thought it'd take me about week to read it but I read it in a couple of days.
Yes I thought that as well they take a while to read because of all the craziness. I've already read another of he's this month and got one more to go.
I'm having a really hard time getting into this book. Its been a while since I read one of Brown's earlier works, but I can't remember the writing being so stilted. The subject matter is also problematic. I teach Software Engineering students and cryptography is one of the modules that we use, so all of the info on code breaking, ciphertext and the Enigma machine is very familiar to me and somewhat boring to read about again.
I'm going to keep at it for another few chapters but if something doesn't happen soon, I'll call it quits.

When the NSA's invincible code-breaking machine encounters a mysterious code it cannot break, the agency calls its head cryptographer, Susan Fletcher, a brilliant and beautiful mathematician. What she uncovers sends shock waves through the corridors of power. The NSA is being held hostage ... not by guns or bombs, but by a code so ingeniously complex that if released it would cripple U.S. intelligence. Caught in an accelerating tempest of secrecy and lies, Susan Fletcher battles to save the agency she believes in. Betrayed on all sides, she finds herself fighting not only for her country but also for her life, and in the end, for the life of the man she loves.
