Sally906 | 90 comments My Yahoo Group - ANZ lit lovers have this scheduled for Novemeber (every November we read the Miles Franklin winner) - thank goodness it less than 300 pages - I would not have coped if the Flanagan book had won as was a BIG book :)

Michael (knowledgelost) Interesting choice, I thought Richard Flanagan would win for sure. Goes to show just how unpredictable literary prizes are.

Sally906 | 90 comments I guess it proves they are not popularity contests - but judgments made by a committee against a set criteria. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Not sure, but certainly as fair as any other method. Popular does not mean it is the best ;)

Michael (knowledgelost) If it was based on popularity Eyrie would of won :P
