What about crime novels? I've just recently read Two Evils. It was really good, so yeah I'd recommend that.

Deb, Try "The Ghosts of Ukuthula" an historical fiction novel with enough action and adventure to keep you moving through an inside look at the liberation movement in South Africa leading up to Nelson Mandela's becoming president of the country. Several interesting female roles in the plot and not a horror or romance. I think you'll find it worth while for yourself and others.
Good morning!I don't know what to recommend to you, but the last four books I read were Candide by Voltaire (1694-1778; read February 13, 2017; 4 stars out of 5; 224 pages; a lot goes on in this short novel); Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal by Eric Schlosser (read February 14-18, 2017; 5 stars; 362 pages; a well-written and scary expose of the American food industry); Rumours And Lies: The Fleetwood Mac Story by Bob Brunning (read February 18-21, 2017; 5 stars; 241 pages; a biography of one of the greatest rock groups ever); and As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner (1897-1962; read February 15-22, 2017; 4 stars; 267 pages; the story of the Bundren family's trek across the Mississippi countryside to bury their wife and mother Addie).

I recently read The Red Tent by Anita Diamant and really enjoyed it. It's a fictional story based on a passage about a woman in the Bible, Dinah. I really loved how imaginative it was and how it imagined the bonds between women of that time.
You can check my blog where I review books, maybe you will find a book you may like to read.https://anopenbookbyaneta.wordpress.com
