Little Free Libraries are popping up all over the nation. Let us know when you spot one and post pictures if you can!

Good idea, Allison. I've yet to see a LittleFreeLibrary in person, but they look like fun.

Does anyone here have a LFL in their town?

I have several in my town! Give me a day or two & I'll post pictures. Our elementary school system recently funded one for each school, but I also know of several done privately. My family loves them & uses them often!

Oh you are so lucky! I found my first local Little Free Library recently, and am still excited about my discovery! I promised myself that I won't stop by until I have some books to leave. I'm a little book-greedy, I will take books without abandon! I plan to only take titles when I have titles to drop off. A LFL for each school, that's just wonderful!

I've noticed one near where I live, but Allison, I look at it the same way you do - I don't want to take anything without leaving something. That one is tiny and not very obvious - I probably passed it a hundred times without noticing it.

I found several others nearby, thanks to StarMan's link. I think I'll need to check them out. :)

We have four in our town. I have personally been to two of them. It's so fun. There is a part of the website that says we can have our own. I might have to look into that! Thanks StarMan!

I think the dorm refrigerator was my favorite el cheapo LFL in that article. I'd have put a sign on it that said "COOL Little Free Library."

I think if I were making one, I'd have to try to make a hobbit hole. But I don't have anyplace to put one, and I doubt most people would appreciate finding one in their yard. ;)

1. Scotland (Kori's house)
2. Australia (Ariana's place)
3. Renice's LittleFreeLibrary

I think we should travel by cruise ship and/or train. This would give us all plenty of time to read along the way.

Our LittleFreeLibrary's are never as full as those pictured. Of course, I am sure they got filled to the hilt for the photo opportunities! :-)

I tried that but for some reason, it kept looking like this instead of showing the picture. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I will keep trying and maybe someday I will get it. :)

Here's how I do it...

SHORT VERSION:

STEP-BY-STEP:

1) Find the actual photo on the Internet. In this case, I went to your profile, photos, and left clicked the appropriate little thumbnail photo to view it full size.

2) Then I RIGHT click on the full size photo and choose 'Copy Image Location' from the pop-up menu.

This copies the actual Internet URL (address) to the Windows 'clipboard', and I can then paste it (Edit-->Paste or CTRL-V) right into the comment box:

https://images.gr-assets.com/photos/1... (first LFL photo)

and repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other photo:

https://images.gr-assets.com/photos/1... (2nd LFL photo)

You're probably seeing them above as truncated (chopped off with .... at the end, because GR is weird and likes to shorten them for boring reasons), but when actually pasting into a coment box where you are typing, you'll see the whole thing, ending in ....jpg (because it's a .jpg photo).

OK, so you've pasted the URLs, but you want the actual IMAGE to show here, not just a clickable link:

3) Take one of the pasted URLS (http://.....jpg), and enclose it in like this:

< img src = " URL goes here! " />

Tips: img src is HTML shorthand for "image source." Note the url is always in quotations. The whole thing must be in brackets < > , and there's usually a / before the closing > for boring reasons that don't matter (but it usually works fine if you forget the / ).

If desired, you can add an extra width or height tag to resize your photo. For more info, click (some html is ok) above a comment window for Goodreads instructions on image size.
