Have you read any of Julian Barnes' books before? Which ones? Are you generally a fan of his writing? Why?

This novel is generally considered an example of the "neo-Victorian" genre. What other neo-Vic books have you read? Are you generally a fan of this genre? What do you (dis)like about it? What are your expectations, on the whole, of a novel in the neo-Vic genre?

I have to say I am a huge fan of Barnes. I think the first book of his I read was A History of the World in 10½ Chapters when I was in my early twenties, and the most recent was The Sense of an Ending. They are hugely different, and I'm looking forward to seeing how he deals with the Victorian period, and with a very well-known Victorian personage.

I do love neo-Vic lit as well as the "real thing". Amongst my favourite authors are Sarah Waters and Charles Palliser.
