Predict what will happen with Quinn and Guzzo's friendship, Rashad and his father's relationship, or Paul's future with the police department. Which predicted outcome is the most important to you? Explain your response.

Shahmeel Naseem | 5 comments I believe Quinn and Guzzo's friendship will get weaker as time goes on because even though they have been friends for a long time, family always comes before friends, and Quinn is siding against Paul in this dilemma. For this reason, Guzzo is constantly angry at Quinn, and Quinn wants to stay friends with him, but he also believes what Paul did was wrong, and Guzzo thinks they can't be friends unless Quinn sides with him.

I completely agree with your statement, Shahmeel. Even after the years of friendship exsisting between Quinn and Guzzo, there is always room for dilema and that can always weaken friendships and even end them. I like how you said "family always comes before friends", it develops a good message to prove that Quinn and Guzzo's friendship has diminished, no matter what they have been through together. Unless the conflict resolves between them, I agree with your prediction that the future of Guzzo and Quinns friendship will not be very bright.

Matthew | 3 comments I believe that when their lives move forward, They will distance themselves from each other and no longer remain friends. Since they have differing opinions whether Paul did the right thing, they continue to grow apart as friends. Guzzo will continue to to feel angry that Quinn isn't supporting his brother Paul and they will grow farther apart. I feel that they might not ever be friends again because Guzzo feels betrayed that his friend didn't side him and Paul.

Ankush Verma | 4 comments The Book leaves us at some kind of cliffhanger regarding relationships. Quinn and Guzzo had gotten into a fight, and they were previously best friends. I predict that Guzzo may change from his current way and go against his brother as he had not believed anything someone would tell him about his brother. The protest could spark a change in him, including Rashad and his father. Rashad's Father would most likely comply with Rashad, as this was shown later in the book. They have a connection in that both police officers, such as Rashad being beaten by Paul or his father shooting a kid. Paul, in the future, will lose his job after the protest as the police does not want to deal with him at all.

I respectfully agree with your statement. They will most likely drift apart, as that is how the book ends but that is not what I believe in. The part of Paul will also happen as Quinn's hatred sort of created a barrier between them.

Isaiahdlee | 3 comments As Guzzo and Quinn's friendship continues to deteriorate, I feel like Rashad and Quinn will become close friends. I think they will become closer and have a bond similar to what he had with Guzzo. Rashad will probably strengthen his bonds with his family and friends; especially with his father. Rashad's dad may open up more as he began to near the end of the story. They will go back to their normal lives while Guzzo may be looked as a racist because of his brother. There could be two possible ways which the story could go next. Paul could be charged with police brutality or could be proven innocent. However, due to the overwhelming evidence against him, I doubt he will be proven innocent. The pressure of the people would also most likely pull the decision. In a few month or years the situation could die down and that is where the story ends.

I also believe that Rashad and his father's connection between each other will strengthen. Since their stories of a traumatic experience are basically on opposite sides of the stories, they can share their feelings more easily. Rashad will probably understand Paul better and why he reacted that way. He might make up with Guzzo in some way and tell him how he understands his brother. At first, he might reject his sympathy but he might gradually accept it.

I respectfully disagree with your statement, since the bond between family is not so easily broken. Even if Paul was wrong, Guzzo would never side against him and he would always stick by him no matter what. He was even willing to beat up Quinn, his best friend, in order to prove it. However, I do agree with you about Rashad's connection with his father. They must have connected over that story because they had both experienced it firsthand, just on opposite sides.

I agree with your response as I think you are correct in saying that Quinn and Guzzo will grow apart, and eventually no longer be friends. Like you said, their differing opinions on Paul's actions will continue to create a rift between them. Guzzo will undoubtedly hold his stance on the issue, as he will want to support his brother unconditionally. Quinn will most likely not change his mind either, as he will want to stick to his values. By continuing to disagree with each other, Quinn and Guzzo's friendship will only weaken, and eventually completely deteriorate.

Although Quinn and Guzzo's friendship had not been determined by the end of the book. It could go two ways and I find it unlikely for Guzzo to go against his brother unless his brother tells him to let it go. Paul may realize what he had done was wrong and went over his limits of power. This may make Guzzo feel guilty that he had blamed Quinn for not being a true "friend." They had been best friends ever since they were children and will probably want to make up at some point. Quinn wants to set a good example for his brother so I'm sure he will not changes his opinion so it has to be Guzzo for a dramatic change.
