Robert (robertgilescampbell) Awesome Interview, I skimmed some parts as I haven't read the book, I assume the main themes in the interview are what I'm going to be reading about when I start the book? I'll have to prepare myself.

This is going to be an enlightening read. My only thoughts, and there not specific to this book, are that I'm so glad that Emma does interviews with the authors or connects us all in some way. In some way it makes it all more real, devastating, urgent, but also promising, and optimistic?

Cheers

Ayako Ezaki (ayakoezaki) | 1 comments I just read the interview (found it through the link that Nicholas Kristof shared on Twitter), and because of it got to know about this bookclub. Really excited to join, and I'm very happy that "Half the Sky" is the current book. I've read a lot about the authors' work related to women's empowerment, and have even taken a MOOC by the two about the topic, but even after hearing about it many times I still haven't actually read "Half the Sky", and this is a perfect reason to do so now! Just ordered a copy, and can't wait to read, learn and share.

Shana Kaplan (sek1128) | 92 comments Thank you for posting the interview Luke. I am still reading the book, which thus far, I find compelling. The survival stories of these women are incredible and has left me wanting to help. The interview was enlightening and very well done. Great job Emma. Thank you for all of your hard work and thank you to Mr. Kristof and Ms. WuDunn for their participation in the interview.

Laura Laura (laurajayneish) | 17 comments It's great to read a bit of an update. It's clear they have changed their views on some things, which is to be expected. Very important to always reassess where we are at.

MeerderWörter | 2388 comments I'll first finish reading the book and then read the interview. Emma is doing a great job!

Camilla (repressedpauper) | 64 comments Loved the interview. I was also interested in hearing how they'd updated their views--I read the book a year or so ago and felt a bit eh on some things. Their book/series A Path Appears sat better with me. Overall I really liked both though.

Sonia Great interview! I appreciated the updates to their research and travels, and the follow-up of a couple of the women in the book. I think since there is still another month before the next book, I will read A Path Appears in October. I'm also excited to take them up on their challenge to move past reading and start doing.

Ross | 1444 comments Ecellent interview, actually answered many of my question from reading the book and subsequent reviews. I think these interviews Emma does with the authors are key to goodreads success allowing our questions to be put making the debate "live"

I woud like to thank Emma and the authors for there time and commitment. They are a highlight for me personally.

Carly | 2 comments Incredibly pleased Emma chose 'Half The Sky' as our current book! I read every morning during my commute to work and the stories continue to drive me throughout my day, reminding me how extremely thankful to be for my freedom, education and opportunities.

I am haunted by Sheryl's words on page 24 "When India feels that the West cares as much about slavery as it does about pirated DVDs, it will dispatch people to the borders to stop traffickers.” However, I have hope that all of the reader's Emma and the authors have inspired can not only continue to appreciate our great fortune but raise awareness and begin to make a difference supporting Smart Girls and other organizations as well as raising awareness to others.
