Hello everyone!
This is a place where we can share prayer requests with the group. Whether you have a personal request, or a request for prayer for someone else... whether you want to tell us about it, or you would rather simply ask us to pray... feel free to ask for prayer here!

FYI
Since the other prayer request thread now has several pages of comments, I thought it might be a good idea to start a fresh thread. I'll leave the other one up so that people can go back & see previous requests if they want, but I will be closing it to future comments.

Ok I guess I'll be the first.

So this morning the boy I sit next to in home room came in and his eyes were all red and puffy and he had dark circles under his eyes and he had clearly been crying and was still kind of. So of course everybody is asking him what is wrong. Sorry for the backstory. His family's friend, their 11 year old son had died last night. I don't know how but what I was told was that he woke up and couldn't feel anything from his waste down and they rushed him to the ER and they figured out it was something to do with his brain so they took him into emergency surgery and as soon as they put him to sleep he past. The good thing is that he knew Jesus so he is up in heaven praising the Lord right now. My teacher actually said something really wise and it just really hit me. She said," When you come into this world you are crying but everybody is rejoicing. When you leave everybody is crying but you are rejoicing."

Rampion (rampion2) | 46 comments My family needs prayer. My 80 year old (great) grandmother was rushed to the ER this morning because she collapsed. She collapsed and passed out and couldn't even say her name. She's a little more aware now, but they life-flighted her to Cleveland Clinic. The only thing they know so far is that her brain is bleeding. One of the (many) reasons this is so scary, is that she is a very capable woman. She still drives herself to the store and everything else, so please, pray as hard as you can for her. I really am hoping and praying she'll pull through this. Thanks everyone. I'll try to post a few updates as they come, but I make no promises.

@Elizabeth- Prayers for that boy's family & friends! That has to be so much harder to deal with considering he was so young & it was totally unexpected... But praise God he's in Heaven now!
If you're able, please let that boy in your class know that folks are praying for him.

@Leah/Elle/Ella- Your family, especially your great-grandmother, are in our prayers! And yes, please do keep us updated if you can. I hope she's doing better soon.

message 5: by Rampion (new)

Rampion (rampion2) | 46 comments Thank you. I found out about an hour ago the the bleeding stopped, but I haven't heard anything else.

Autumn Slaght | 38 comments @ Elizabeth: That is such tragic news! Seems to me that to recover emotionally after something like that will take a long time. I'm so sorry for the loss. Adding this to my prayer journal.

@ Leah/Elle/Ella: I'm praying for your grandmother and adding her to my prayer list as well. My grandmother is somewhere around 85-ish...(I don't even know her age...oops. :)) and she has had a plethora of health problems for the past couple of years. This is tough, I know. Just know that I'm praying for her.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you guys so much for praying for them! It means a lot. I'll have to tell him tomorrow he has people praying for him everywhere. I know if something like that happend to me I'd love to hear that people are praying for me. Thank you guys so much! <3 <3

message 10: by Rampion (new)

Rampion (rampion2) | 46 comments Thank you everyone for your prayers. Last night I found out she was responding to questions they asked her, and she responded correctly. She knew what her name was, and she knew who was with her in the room (my grandmother, who is her daughter; my uncle, who is her son; my mom and my dad, who is the son of my grandmother). Also, Elizabeth, my family has you and that family in our prayers. I can't even imagine such a loss.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you Leah. That's awesome news about your grandmother. She is in my prayers as well.

message 12: by Rampion (new)

Rampion (rampion2) | 46 comments My grandma is doing a lot better. She was asking about my cousin (who lives with her) asking if she was eating okay.

message 13: by Rampion (new)

Rampion (rampion2) | 46 comments I don't know why part of my comment isn't showing up, but basically what it said was to keep praying for my grandma, and pray for me and my family, because some of us got bad colds is weekend. Thanks. ☺

Autumn Slaght | 38 comments That's wonderful news about your grandmother, Leah/Elle/Ella! I'm so glad she's doing better! But of course I will continue to keep her in my prayers. (Don't worry about the comment problems, it happens to me all the time on every site I go to. :))

@Leah- I'm so glad to hear positive reports on your grandma! Praise God! :) We're still praying for her. And praying for you & your family too-- hope y'all get over those nasty colds soon!

message 17: by Rampion (new)

Rampion (rampion2) | 46 comments Thank you. I found out that my grandma's doing well enough to be transferred to a hospital closer to us, maybe tomorrow (Cleveland Clinic is about 2-ish hours away). As for the colds, we're all doing much better. I'm feeling about 70-75% better now, except for a mild cough, some congestion, and I am extremely hoarse. I could barely even talk yesterday.

Rampion (rampion2) | 46 comments aggg! It cut off again! Basically I and my family are doing much better, and I wanted to thank you guys for your prayers. (And still praying for you, too. :)) I know that God cares so much for you, so, yes, I know we're total strangers, but so do I. I hope that you feel better soon, colds are nasty and no fun at all! :( I've heard that Ginger root tea, mint tea and believe it or not, foot rubs help with congestion. message 24: by May͛a (new)

May͛a (rhapsodyinblue) I have one. So, my parents have been fighting nonstop since forever, and my mom's decided to leave. It's not out of the blue, to be honest. For the past few years she's been pretty distant, after making friends out there who share the same hobbies as her. My mom doesn't like staying in one spot for too long, and she likes to travel; so do these people, so she usually goes out with them. She usually tells our family she's going somewhere else the day before she does, and my dad's unhappy about it, of course. They've been having problems with each other and this just adds on to it. She's barely home nowadays, and yesterday she dropped the bomb about going back to her city...today. It's not a surprise to me, because I've been having talks with her, but my dad claims she's never told him about leaving this week.

I respect the fact that she wants her freedom and her own life, and I get it if she thinks motherhood doesn't suit her, but I've got two younger siblings that I usually am the one taking care of. I can't believe she's leaving them. I pray to God that He will guide my parents and everyone through this.

Autumn Slaght | 38 comments Oh, Maya, I'm sorry to hear that! I will pray for you all during this time in your life; it sounds so hard and confusing. I just prayed for you and I will continue to pray for you. You can message me if you ever need to talk to someone.

I'm so sorry, Maya. Bless your heart. *hugs you* :(

Dearest heavenly Father, we praise Your holy name! You are mighty, awesome, and wonderful! Thank You, Father, for the many blessings You bestow upon us. I just want to ask You, today, to please be with Maya and her family, Lord. Calm her mother's heart and speak to her in only the voice You can. We pray that she will hear You, Lord. Speak to her father, and give him wisdom, guidance, strength, and patience as he deals with this very troubling situation. Bless Maya and her siblings with Your love and understanding. I come to You with a humble heart, Lord, and I love You! I ask this all in Your name, AMEN!

Again, bless you, Sweetie! *more hugs*

Hi Maya,

I am SO sorry to hear about what is going on in your family! The Devil thrives on the break-up of families, and he is working very hard in these "final days" to accomplish that through many different means, e.g. "the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life."

We are living in such a time that we must be very diligent and aware of the tactics of the Devil and the power of sin!

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

1 John 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

As it gets closer to the time when the "wicked one" is completely destroyed, he will increase his attacks. Which is why we must stay close to God, and seek to honor Him and His holy word through His son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Ephesians 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Ephesians 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Ephesians 6:20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Your mother most likely does not understand the hold that Satan has on her, but I pray that God will open her eyes to the truth! Only the truth will set her free from his evil influence and the power of darkness.

1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 John 2:5 But whoso keepeth His word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him.

1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked.

1 John 2:7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

1 John 2:8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in Him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the True Light now shineth.

1 John 2:9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

1 John 2:10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

1 John 2:11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers! I know it is especially hard when a loved one seems to have turned against God and His will for their life, but I hope you will keep the faith, and I encourage you to keep looking to the Lord no matter what others may do!

And may God be with you!

With the love of Christ,
C. Read

I posted a prayer request on the old thread-- https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... --earlier this month about a boy (Jesse) who got hit by a semi back in August..... and also for his grandpa who was having some pretty serious trouble with his blood pressure.

Here's an update on Jesse & his grandpa:
I'm happy to say that Jesse is doing very well! He has overcome so much, praise God!! Thank you all so very much for your prayers! :)
He was awake & talking to his dad today, which is a big encouragement. The doctors are very happy with the progress he's made. He has one more surgery (pretty minor) tomorrow morning. They plan to remove the tube from his lung soon & I understand that physical therapy (which they hope to start sometime in the next few weeks?) will be the next step after that. He still has a long journey ahead of him, but with much prayer I have faith he'll do just fine.
Jesse's grandpa also seems to be doing quite well. They're assuming that the blood pressure issues were due to the stress he was under because of Jesse's accident & nothing more than that. Praise God! :)

Again, thank you all for your prayers!! And please continue to pray for Jesse-- he still has a long recovery ahead of him!

And I also have a prayer request...

I've been having loads of computer trouble at work here lately. I think the guys are starting to wonder if I'm sabotaging my computer or something. haha! ;P
This kinda feels like a small issue... but honestly, this has been really frustrating. It's causing me to be less productive at work, as well as the guys in the office who have paused their own work to try to help me get the computers to function properly. And, after nearly 2 weeks of dealing with these issues, it's really starting to stress me out!
So please pray for me that the rest of the week will go smoothly & the guys will be able to get a new computer set up for me soon!

Hi Aerykah,

God is so wonderful! And I am so thankful to hear about Jesse and his family!

Early this year my mother in-law was in ICU for over 3 months, and they told us that she was just not going to make it. Well, my husband and I asked for a meeting with the doctors and nurses who were taking care of her, and after that meeting, she miraculous started getting better. And after much therapy she eventually came back home. And I know it was the Lord!

I pray the Lord will take care of your work issues. I perfectly understand how frustrating it can be when you have computer troubles. Take care! And I pray you will keep looking to the Lord!

With the love of Christ,
Cathy

Thank you for the prayers!! Thankfully, they got the new computer much sooner than anticipated (God knew I needed it, right?) & one of my coworkers was able to get it set up for me early Thursday morning. What a pleasant surprise when I came into work! :) My new one is faster & hasn't given me any trouble at all so I'm praising God for that!! :)

I'm so sorry, Maya. I can't even begin to understand the frustrations and pain that your mother's leaving has cause. I can understand the sorrow you feel when you see your parents fighting and see the tears that are cause flung like barbs against eacother. She is doing so, so, so much better. She is (temporarily) in a nursing home for therapy and that sort of thing. She is talking, eating, able to feed herself, she can stand with help, and more. She still has a long way to go though, so please still keep praying. Thanks!

Karis I just want to remind everyone here to be praying for those that are being effected by Hurricane Mathew, especially those in Haiti. The death count so far is more than 300 lives. Such devastation is so crazy to think about. There are so many that are hurting and have no homes and nothing left in the world to call their own. Pray for the Christian relief workers to be effective and that through this disaster those hurt would be able to see God's love through the help they receive. Pray that they would be able to to have clean water. Lots of times more people in poor countries die after a hurricane simply because there is no clean water and diseases spread.

Pray that good will come from this and that God would be glorified.

I have been praying ever since I heard about Matthew headed their way... We are supposed to go on a mission trip next year, and the road to where we planned to go is washed out, but thank the Lord their village survived and there was no loss of life. I pray God will continue to be with them!
