Thanks for letting me do this Lala!!I know some people think that Mandarin Chinese is a hard language, but trust me, It's really not too bad ;)

Yes,I agree. there are like over 100! Alyal, Rachel, would it be okay if I help? My mother is Chinese, and I know quite a lot. LOL, sometimes English people pronounce it so wrong, I just want to laugh! No offense to all you English people. And when do you start the lessons?

Not all, but if you could get a pinyin chart for me or something that would be helpful, and much more than that.
Ok Lesson 2 can be phrases you should know.Lesson 3 can be introductions (names, nice to meet you, stuff like that)

there's like 2000 you need to know to be able to read most things. I think there's actually like 10000. :O
There's actually over 80,000 Chinese characters, but a lot of them are rarely ever used xDI found this statistic:
Most frequently used 1,000 characters: ~90% (Coverage rate)
Most frequently used 2,500 characters: 98.0% (Coverage rate)
Most frequently used 3,500 characters: 99.5% (Coverage rate)

I forget them all as I go. I am a disgrace to chinese people.
I'm envious. I want to try to teach Chinese too. Except for the fact that I only know a couple hundred words. -_-
Lol the amount of characters is what makes learning Chinese so daunting! One day, though :P

There are soooo many characters....uggg...well, I feel bad for knowing only a hundred or so because my mom has been tryint to teach me for the last million years and I haven't really learned as much....
I took two years of Chinese, but the character still really trip me up badly

I know! I'm taking Chinese I now, and it's not that much harder than learning another new language. The grammar for the most part is easy.
