Interesting title for this newer honor book....

Bomb: The Race to Build—and Steal—the World's Most Dangerous Weapon by Steve Sheinkin

I've placed my request for this non-fiction title that we'll start reading in a week!

Steve Shilstone | 190 comments This book is absolutely superb. Crystal clear explanations in crystal clear simple language. It's exciting, informative, a page-turner with plenty of personal details. After reading it, I scooted directly to youtube and watched various movies and documentaries on the subject.

Oh good. I've been stalling, feeling intimidated, but no longer. I'm in the middle of a bigger book, but with luck I can finish it today and start 'Bomb' tonight.

Whew. I'm not a fan of history, but this is so well-written & presented that I did manage to get through it. Fans of fiction might also want to read The Green Glass Sea.

I note that the four awards' stickers on the front of "Bomb" are for three different age levels of readers. I will have my husband read this before we return it to the library.

I'm considering reading more of the author's work even though I'm not that interested in history, just because there are things that, as he says in some of his titles, our textbooks didn't tell us... and should have.

I pushed this on my husband because he likes some historical adventure and I thought some true history wouldn't hurt. He liked it very much, and is seriously considering reading more by the author!

Jennifer (JenIsNotaBookSnob) (jenisnotabooksnob) | 170 comments This was very enjoyable. It moves right along and has enough detail to be interesting without so much that it gets bogged down. One of those books that leave you wanting to read more on the topic.

I hope that I can find a copy, sigh as this sounds like a good book to read and discuss.

Jenny | 722 comments I really enjoyed this. I listened to it on CD as I drove and I kind of wish I had read it since Amy mentioned that it has pictures. Also, listening to it, I had a bit of trouble at first keeping all of the different "characters" (for lack of a better word...I recognize they are all real people) straight.

Jenny | 722 comments I've put his book about Benedict Arnold on hold to read.
