Tehachapi True Crime discussion

Hello everyone
Greetings from Sunny Cornwall.
I wonder whether any of the group members would be kind enough to answer a couple of questions about true crime for me for my uni. project?
1. What is so compelling about the true crime genre, why do you enjoy reading it?
2. how to you choose you next title...is it by historical period, type of crime or the criminal?
3. What are the ingredients to a great true crime book?

I'm joining this group close to 1 year after your comment, but since I enjoy reading and studying true crime, your questions got my attention.
1. I actually adore true crime stories/television shows (non-fiction and fiction) since many of them delve into the human mind. Abnormal (to say the least) psychology is one of my passions.
2. I suppose I answered this question in question #1, and I consider many of these books as a 'guilty pleasure.
3. I've not written true crime, though I am itching to do so!
