Hello everyone! The selections for October have been chosen. They are Brownies and Broomsticks in Bailey Cates' Magical Bakery Mystery Series and Catering to Nobody in Diane Mott Davidson's Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery Series.

If you'd like to see my announcement video, it is here: https://youtu.be/XI2dAAZY374

I am super excited about both of these, especially Diane Mott Davidson's series as I have several of the books in that series. I will be posting the discussion threads for both of these books closer to the first of October. Please feel free to come and talk about both of these books with us!

Hello Di! Well I guess we have food themed books this month. I think I will choose Catering to Nobody. I've got one book from that series and they look cute. I've been curious to read one.

Hello! I love that the cover to Catering to Nobody has a Jack-o-lantern sugar container on it. Perfect for October. My favorite part of culinary mysteries are the recipes! Can't wait to see what recipes this one contains.

Yay! And I did notice that Catering to Nobody had a cheaper price on Kindle. How wonderful! I own a physical copy of that one myself so I'm glad to pull it out and finally read it. I think my library has Brownies and Broomsticks available on Hoopla, so I'll be reading that one there.

So glad you'll be reading these with us!

Sarah (csarah) I already read both of these books some time ago. I really like Bailey Cates series, but had problems with Diane Mott Davidson's book.

Sarah (csarah) I'm looking forward to hear your thoughts on them.

Hi Kristy! There is kind of a list lol. I should've been better about making a hard copy when I made the jar. I'm going to try to compile it soon. I'm pretty sure the books you mentioned are not in the jar already though. I'll go ahead and add them in. Thanks for the suggestions! If there's one in particular you'd like to read for November, please let me know and I will make it one of the picks ^-^

I still need to compile my list of suggestions for you too. I was just thinking that for December we could do the first Lucy Stone mystery by Leslie Meier. It is called Mistletoe Murder. All of them are holiday themed and the first one just happens to be a Christmas themed one.

Hi Elizabeth! I was thinking about the Christmas Theme myself. I'll put Mistletoe Murder as one of the selections for December. There are probably Thanksgiving themed ones out there too, though they may not be the first book in the series.

And please do send your list my way ^-^

So excited because I just realized that my library system has Catering to Nobody on audio. I'll be able to get it read much quicker than I thought.

Rachel | 20 comments Picked up Catering to Nobody yesterday. I'll be starting it probably tomorrow when I have Dracula behind me.

That's great Rachel! Ooh I've been wanting to read Dracula. Completely off topic, but how are you liking it?

It's not as good as some make it seem. I honestly struggled through the whole things. The only reason it's a classic is because if the style it's written in (journal entries). I find it interesting that the last bits on the novel was comments on the female main character. It convinces me that Bram Stoker maybe have been a bit of a feminist.

Very interesting. I have it on audiobook and meant to listen to it last October, but never got around to it. If I can manage it, maybe I'll try to fit it in this year and finally get it checked off my list.
