Princess Aylani had been scurrying around the hallways with her parents, helping to order servants and guards around and prepare for the visitors. Most of the foreign royals would be arriving today, and she hardly felt prepared as their host. However, as the crown princess passed the door to the red lounge, she spotted her eldest cousin gazing thoughtfully out the window. Despite all her worries and frets about being unprepared, her motherly instinct took over immediately and forced her to walk into the room. It was empty except for Julep.

She silently took a seat next to her cousin, curling her knees up next to her in such a way that even the informal sitting position looked proper. She studied Jules' face, noticing the tension and slight anxiety that rested in her eyes. It was a moment before she spoke. "It all won't change too much, you know that right? And what does change will be for the better," her voice was soft, as though she was unsure if the words she spoke were some Jules even wanted to hear.

(( Sorry, I saw your post a while ago I just haven't been able sit down and write it till now! ))

Lani put a gentle hand on her cousin's shoulder with a soft smile. "That's simply not how life works for us royals. Funny, isn't it? Of all the luxuries we receive thanks to our crowns, love isn't one of them," she sucked back a sigh, knowing that as the eldest of both her siblings and her cousins, she had to act the part of the perfect princess without a complaint in the world. She was supposed to show them that arranged marriages weren't all that bad, though she had major doubts about her own that had already been set up with the Crown Prince of England.

"I'm fine," she replied to Jules' second question, her response almost automatic. It was mostly true though. She enjoyed Court time, as she'd experienced multiple seasons before. Her only concern was her arranged marriage, but she had tried to push that to the back of her mind. She was smart; she could figure a way around this marriage her father had forced her into.
