Lindsay | 546 comments That was a really good section break Rob.

It was interesting to read the point of view of the Toremi. A completely insane point of view, but interesting. Also a clever idea regarding the New Mothers; I don't think I've seen that particular concept in a space opera before. I've seen transcendence done before, notably in Star Trek, but an actual evolutionary step in the general population is really cool.

The death of Lovey is heartbreaking, not least for how it affects poor Jenks. The bit where she's talking about the directory of all the conversations she's ever had with Jenks and when it started got me.

Originally when I read this I was a little frustrated with Lovelace and the body kit at the end. That's the story I wanted to read, and at the time I had no idea that there was going to be a sequel. Very happy to see the next book starts with her in the body kit.

Totally lucky! If a book has natural section breaks, I use them, but otherwise I just go about 100 pages or so depending on the length of the book.

I was pretty devastated about Lovey. I'll be curious to see how Lovelace 2.0 the independent entity evolves. We'll she have a copy of that hidden directory that Lovey kept of her interactions with Jenks?

What I'm wondering is, what would have happened if they had transferred her to the body kit BEFORE the hard reset? Would it have made a difference? I guess it wasn't really an option since it wasn't on the ship at the time, but I was wondering why they didn't try/consider it.

Overall this was a really fun book. I'm looking forward to the sequel later this month. I like how she treated the different species, POVs, and even the AI. It's a very nice ideal to strive for where a bunch of people with such diverse backgrounds can become a family.

Ctgt | 629 comments I was surprised how much the Lovey crash hit me. There are a ton of questions dangling out there. Really looking forward to the next book.

Jaime | 97 comments I adore this book!

Reading the section about Lovely and the reset had me close to tears.

Pepper is awesome! She is up on my list of favorite characters.

Corbin stepped up and did what he knew was right and though it could be argued that it was a jerk move, that was the moment I finally liked him.

I am looking forward to reading the next book. It sounds like it will be different though and I wonder if we will still get time with these characters or if it will only focus on Pepper and Lovelace.

Yeah, I agree about Corbin Jaime

Suzanne | 1582 comments I agree about Corbin too. There are good arguments for him being wrong, (and for him being right), but his action really added to his character for me. I had him pegged as the clueless jerk at the first, and I'm really glad that he had more dimensions.

I liked how Jenks interacted with all of the AI throughout the book, and I LOVED his interactions with Lovey - so losing her was truly devastating. I really liked what Kizzy said to him after about brothers. And wow, when the galactic council said "At least nobody was hurt"....what a slap in the face!

Dara (cmdrdara) Finished the book yesterday. It was nice (read my review to see what I think of nice). By the end, I feel like the book was rather shallow and I'll struggle in a week to recall anything that happened or any of the character's names.
