Audible put up some examples of bumbling detectives. I'm not sure about their examples. I never thought Amelia Peabody or Erast Fandorin as bumbling. What do you think of the list? Agree or disagree? Any additions?
The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz
The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley
One for the Money by Janet Evanovich
Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters
Heat Wave by Richard Castle
Burglars Can't Be Choosers by Lawrence Block
The Winter Queen by Boris Akunin
A Good Man Gone by A.W. Hartoin
Mother's Day Out by Karen MacInerney
Board Stiff by Kendel Lynn
Louisiana Longshot by Jana Deleon
The Inspector and Mrs. Jeffries by Emily Brightwell

Would agree on the Plum books. Haven't read any of the others except the Castle books and wouldn't consider those "bumbling".
Stephanie Plum is definitely a bumbler. However, Flavia DeLuce is anything but bumbling--sharp, clever, and intuitive.
Nikki Heat is a professional, bonafide New York city police detective. She never bumbles.
Nikki Heat is sharp, bright and competent--not a bumbler at all. Maybe they were thinking of the Jameson Rook character, but he really isn't a bumbler either, just more naïve.
Richard Castle, from the TV series, might be considered a bit of a bumbler, but he isn't in the Heat series he supposedly pens, Jameson Rook his alter ego is. And I agree, Rook isn't really much of a bumbler.
