Alan (plumboz) | 10 comments Considering the passion for fine literature represented in this group, I am curious to know what, if any experiences you have had in exploring independently published works. Any discoveries that have surprised and delighted you? Any experiences that have confirmed or challenged your previously held notions?

Thanks!

G.J. (buch-wurm) Hi Alan, interesting question ! Given the fact that so many good authors have little choice but to publish independently As a reader I think we should be open to such novelists. I cerainly feel there are many writing to higher standards than other well known authors who get publishing contracts at the drop of a hat... Or name !
My recent reading and enjoyment of a spy novel called Codename Lazarus is, in my mind a good example of this.

Alan (plumboz) | 10 comments My experience has been hit or miss, with a lot more miss in the mix. But i like checking them out if for no other reason than the chance of making a discovery. I do like the suspense novels by Lexi Revellian. I think one of these days she will find a wide readership.

Alan (plumboz) | 10 comments Hi. I am celebrating the completely unexpected loss of the day job by offering my first novel, Boomerang free for Kindle for the next three days. Meantime, I am splitting my time between filling out applications and working on the long-delayed follow-up to Boomerang.

I wish everyone here a wonderful, book-filled summer.

Adam Jones | 19 comments I used a hybrid publisher, Wisdom House Books, for my debut novel, Fate Ball and for my first children's book, Cecil and the Big Wave. A hybrid publisher must APPROVE your work in order to publish it, but it is really independent publishing. To do it right can get expensive through a hybrid publisher, but I have had excellent results with my projects from book events, local PR in print/radio, to my overall sales.Adam W. Jones

Ellie Elisabeth | 2 comments I've had a lot of people really enjoy my self published work!
I really LOVE Charlie Holmberg's Paper Magician series. I think she self published to start and then a ver small publishing company picked her up and now she was even at Comic Con CA this year! Definitely recommend Charlie Holmberg :-)
